Does anyone hunt with a Sierra Matchking Bullet?

I doubt I would use the same bullet today. we have lots more bullets to choose from and a lot more information today than i had in 1977. Given a choice I would rather be younger, poorer, fewer choices 43 years ago than be better informed with more choices I can afford to.day

Does anyone hunt with a Sierra Matchking Bullet?

Forty years ago I drove a 85 or 90 grain 6mm MatchKing at 2,950 FPS in 6mm Remington for coyotes. The bullets would never make an exit wound on a body shot inside 500 yards. I never had to shoot one a second time. One time I lined up 3 prairie dogs at 150 yards the MatchKing load cut the third...

    Cheap Truck Gun set ups

I use 6mm Remington 788 95 grain bullet are the longest it will reliably stabelize ninty grain Sieria MatchKings at 3000 fps work fine for cohorts at 500 yards and blow up inside the coyote with o fur damage. With the proper bul!et it would do.for a uninstaller elk. It would do in pinch to...

    NX8 1-8 for a hunting rifle?

When I was hunting coyotes I had a cheap 3 by 9x on 6mm Remington that worked fine for out to 450 yards. It was good for my brother out to 600. The best day I had with it I drove in a pasture and had 5 dogs on a cow and went five for five. It stated at 100 yards and the last dog was 450 or 500...

    Powder scales

Digital scales all hunt (jump up and 1-3 digits) on the last digit at their highest resolution. Many will hunt on the smallest digit no matter the scale. The hunting is noise Thad causes the scales to read over and under when the weight is between a value that falls on a point that solidly holds...

Guys like what they like... Triplets

I can see the break on 7mm Magnum and mane a light 270, but a 25-06 just doesn't kick that hard and can have a lot of gass going out brake making it awfully hard on the ears. I've yet to be on a varmint hunt that several folks didn't wear ear protection some of time. There may not be any guns...

Rebarrel with Proof Carbon or just buy new rifle

If cometition shooting is of any interest I would consider a cartrige with a longer neck that you can get a slightly more uniform grip on the bullet and not have to seat long bullets so deep in the powder charge. I shoot a Remington 6mm the choice was made because a local store had one that had...

14 year old girl can’t miss.

The merical of youth, young eyes, steady hands and no memoris to haunt them of flinching, pulled shots and bad wind calls to shake their faith on making the shot. Good eyes and hands are most of it.

Most Accurate Out Of The Box

I see 6 mm and 6.5mm rifles winning 1,000 yard/meter matches to exclusion of almost everything else. It seems folks with 6.5 mm barrels are replacing them with 6 mm barrels. A 6 mm bullet just doesn't have the energy to hunt deer past 400 or at the very most 500 yards. I wouldn't go past 250 or...

Most Accurate Out Of The Box

If your going to do long range hunting you need a place to practice your long range shooting. A flat range won't do very well. I expect I quarter section would be the vary minimum set up very much like a golf course but with shooting positions that let you take shot at targets from 100 to 1,200...
