Thanks for taking a look and commenting. I was hunting in unit 45 on Bennett Mountain in Idaho.

Who do you get a solid position W/shooting sticks?

Just my opinion but in my experience you can't get steady enough with shooting sticks to shoot longer ranges. The Harris bipod is your sturdiest field portable support for long range shooting. Again just my opinion from my experience. I don't ever use a bipod anymore for big game hunting. I...

    Idaho draw hunt success photos.

Thanks Nighthunter and Gonehunting. I bought my regular season deer tag. Then I drew a super tag which is an extra tag. I could have also bought a left over non-resident deer tag. So actually could have taken 3 deer in Idaho this year. If you want to take two bucks you would have to buy a left...

    Idaho draw hunt success photos.

Well after many tries I finally drew a limited entry permit for a public land unit in Idaho. Two of my friends Corey and Chad were nice enough to help scout and on the actual hunt. Can't thank them enough! Anyway opening morning we were heading for a buck we had scouted the week before. Sure...

cutty, You heard right. North Idaho has a lot of very nice whitetails. They are underhunted so get a chance to mature. When there is heavy snow early it can be amazing for big bucks during the rut.

Yes I really love the B&C. Very nice scope. Forgot to mention that patch of green trees just above the deers head in the background is where I took the shot from.

I did not dig out the bullet. I think it held together well though because of the lack of blood shot meat. Very small entrance wound and still can't believe the bullet did not exit but that is the case.

Not the biggest buck but public land do it yourself hunt in Idaho. Rained all day, spotted this deer up in a canyon. Got as close as I could. Hit him with the lazer 387 yards. Wind and rain were straight in my face. Set the 350 crosshairs in my Leupold Boone and Crocket Reticle right on top of...

Boone and Crocket reticle range test.

First of all night hunter no one is talking about being scared and afraid to use the click method. It is simply a matter of confidence and what works best for each individual. With my Boone and Crock reticle I have range proven consistent aim points out to 600 yards. In fact I shot 1 shot at each...

Boone and Crocket reticle range test.

goodgrouper, Not a problem. Of course you think your way is best cause it works for you and you have confidence it is the best way, for you. Since I don't trust clicks, there is no way I could use your method. I agree that if indeed clicks are accurate and adjust to the exact place you think...

Boone and Crocket reticle range test.

good grouper, Whatever method works for you is great. I prefer to get my good solid rest, zap the animal with my rangefinder, assess the conditions, pick an aimpoint in my scope and fire. It doesn't get any easier than that. I don't trust clicks. With set aimpoints I have tested and proven to be...
