Brass is hard to chamber after full-length resize

Now there's an interesting idea. I might give this a try I like this idea, but the extensive (and I do mean extensive) explorations the fellas over at Long Range Only did trying to make sense of the issue over the past two years came to the conclusion that it's a mismatch between chamber...

Brass is hard to chamber after full-length resize

The whole thread is long, but super informative. https://www.longrangeonly.com/forum/threads/6-5-prc-dies-not-sizing-enough.6782/page-3 It looks like there's an industry-wide mismatch between the chamber reamers and dies for 6.5 PRC (and 300 PRC). Perhaps Hornady screwed something up when they...

Brass is hard to chamber after full-length resize

There's the answer!!! It totally is the dies. Thanks, Steve! Really appreciate that. Correction: Not the dies, that was the early suspicion, but custom dies did not fix the issue. Chambers are too tight, have to ream them out and that resolves the issue.

Brass is hard to chamber after full-length resize

In response to all of the above: 1. The die is literally as low as it goes, I'm getting full contact between the shell holder and the sizing die. 2. Not using an expander ball (I checked what the bench rest guys are doing, and they don't use them) and I trimmed all cases to trim length...

Brass is hard to chamber after full-length resize

I'm reloading 6.5 PRC Hornady brass. Factory ammo chambers fine. After resizing the brass using a Hornady match full-length resize die, the brass barely chambers—the bolt is sticky loading and unloading the brass. I have the die set so the case goes as far into the die as possible (shell...

    4831 SC in 6.5 PRC

Get your old boss to take you, he's allowed to bring guests. Better yet, ask him to put you in touch with the ranch manager so you can get your own permission. Great place to shoot.

    4831 SC in 6.5 PRC

I was using a Frankford Arsenal Intellidropper. First thing I did was check it against another digital scale. .2grain max variation between the two across repeat measurements, so I ruled out the scale.

    4831 SC in 6.5 PRC

I've been developing some loads using H4831SC w/ CCI 200 behind 140gr GMX (only copper bullet my rifle likes) and 140gr ELDM. Found a good node at 54.0 grains, it was grouping around .6 MOA at 200 yards, clocking around 3,000fps in a 24" barrel. Didn't check groups farther out, but was...
