SOLD/EXPIRED Magnum Research .22LR with Houge Stock, Weaver Scope

This seller is a crook and a thief. He has already scammed a member of 24hrcampfire for $475 for the same rifle. He used his brother (Possibly the brother? Ven Faulk? http://fflgundealers.net/dudley-guns-ammo.html) who holds an FFL to assist him in the theft. The OP should be blocked and banned...

most accurate out of the box factory rifle?

Great old classic cartridge. Own an M-1 NM and a Clone 03A4. Both are sub MOA rifles with replicas of NM loads. Both scoped for this blind old man, Just ordered my new Marlin X7VH in 308. If it's like my other two, a bit of tuning on the stock will produce flyswatter accuracy. With the 26"...

most accurate out of the box factory rifle?

I suggest you start reading the "road tests" in Rifle and Gun Tests to see just how many of these $5000 or more rifles won't even shoot MOA groups. As for shooting F class against a Marlin ...... Perhaps it's because Marlin does not make an F class gun, either in cartridge or configuration...

most accurate out of the box factory rifle?

Well since range or cartridge wasn't a criteria, I would nominate the Winchester 52D. For centerfires, the sadly discontinued Tikka 595 (wood stock target rifle) in 308 with Federal Gold Medal Match shoots bugholes.

most accurate out of the box factory rifle?

Amusing when you consider the number of $5000 custom rifles out there that won't shoot as well as either the Savage or the Marlin.

most accurate out of the box factory rifle?

Savage and Marlin XL. Both need stiffening up the stock with dowels and acraglass. The Marlin also need the nylon trigger guard replaced with a 700 ADL metal one (drop in) so you can torque the bedding screws correctly. Both should have barrels free floated. It would be fun to play with the new...

If I were a long range hunter ......

"Only know what you're told, but can't absorb any new info? You brought the claim you own it, why in the world would anybody backtrack to your gunsmith?" Lemme see..... I got the info from the smith who built the rifle, it was new information that I absorbed. Now you come along as an expert and...

If I were a long range hunter ......

I only know what I was told. Suggest you take it up with Scott. Immaterial to me as I HATE MUZZLE BRAKES. Winchester and Browning killed the excellent BOSS tuning system by making it a brake. By the time they figured out that a non vented end was better the damage had been done. It's...

If I were a long range hunter ......

Suggest you t/w Scott up in Driggs, after all he did build the rifle and said even engraving the cartridge on the bbl eats up a carbide router bit. Besides which I don't anything to do with brakes. I'm deaf enough already from six decades of shooting, two of which consisted of no ear...

If I were a long range hunter ......

You can't add a brake to a nitrided barrel, it's too hard. I dislike brakes as you can't wear enough hearing protection, especially while hunting, to protect you. They also make you no friends at the shooting range. Most PHs will not allow hunters to use braked rifles as hearing is more...

If I were a long range hunter ......

Being an old geezer and bowhunter, I consider 300 yards a long shot on big game. Varmints, steel, paper and terrorists are another matter. Put together this toy "on the cheap" Thanks to Scott up in Driggs and some lucky swapping. Started with a 6.5x284 Savage F class single shot. Added a new...

HELP, cannot find very heavy rifle BiPod

Their website says the XDS HD is designed for the M-14 and AR 30. Atlas is bringing out a new super heavy rifle model (one step up from F class) that they say will handle 30 lb+ rifles. Think I'll wait and see as their stuff is all excellent.

HELP, cannot find very heavy rifle BiPod

Thanks. I was incorrect about the balance point, actually 1" back from the fore end tip. As I'm a snowbird and only in WY until mid December I can wait for the new heavy duty Atlas as there is little use for a 338 RUM in Key West ! The newest data for RL 33 is now available from Alliant on...
