I have a winchester model 70 coyote in 300wsm and currently know of several loads that shoot half moa or better. I also know of another 300 and a couple 270wsms that all shoot sub half moa. I have also seem rugers, remingtons, and savages shoot well when fed what they like. this is like...
I agree with the h 1000 suggestion rl 19 has given me some excellent groups but when the temp changed so did my velocity. I recently switched to vihtavouri n165 in my 300wsm with excellent results. A close friend has had great results in his 7 mag with h1000.
Ok... Back to the original question... As was stated earlier load development should be done from a bench or from your belly with bag and bipod. That said I had a similar issue with 168 bergers and my 300 wsm. They shot 1/4 to 1/3 moa at 100 yds but at 300 they wouldn't hold 1 moa. Tried190's...
The Allen mag is 408 Chey tac and the Allen express is 338 lapua brass modified if I'm not mistaken I would think barrel life on a 338-378 would be drastically better than the 30-378 though I have little experience with the weatherby
I completely understand about the mdl 70. I have a mdl 70 coyote in 300 wsm and it shoots lights out. the only thing I would change about it is I would love for it to have a longer pipe. I bedded it myself and installed a timney trigger that breaks like glass a 2 lb. the last time I shot it...
Heres a thought... Why don't you rebarrel the mdl. 70 in 300 wsm??? You would be able to go with a 28" or so and get a few more fps. Would possibly allow you to shoot a bit heavier bullet and still get the velocity you want. Just a thought but you could go with whatever barrel you want and a...
I would highly recommend the bergers. What is your bbl length? I shoot a factory Mdl 70 coyote so I only have 24". One day itwill get something a little bit longer. If you have a longer bbl I would think the 210 might be worth a try. I just can't push them very fast. Try th 185,190,and 210...
8 rounds sounds about right for win brass. I have had much better results with Norma
I am about 10 rounds in with my 300 wsm and my Norma is in great shape.
Over the past year I have shot 300 wsm exclusively. Over this time I have worked up a number of loads that will shoot well under moa and several under half. Almost all bullets have shot better with different powders. 165 accubonds and rl 19 hover between 1/2 and3/4. 168 bergers and vihta...
