    Mosquito Help Needed

Head net, elastic bands for wrists and ankles, and a pair of thin gloves. Hunting from a ground blind and wanting to keep scent down. Back in the '50s there wasn't Thermocell.

Some threads tick me off !

Ontario had a 3-day open season for whitetail, I lived only minutes from 3 farms that let me hunt on their property. Two weeks before opening I would be up well before light and out in the fields getting to know where the deer moved from the feeding area to where they bedded down for the day. I...

    Let them walk.

Where I live a lot of the time it is illegal to shoot full mature moose and only legal to shoot immature bulls, cows are a no no. In BC Canada there is a non-science-based stupid rule that only 3 brow-tined moose can be shot.

I think CZ 520 IS Semiauto and is in .223 Looks more sporting than military.

    Blaze Orange and Archery

Years ago where I live archery season started two weeks before rifle season, then black powder became popular and a primitive weapons season was created. Archers and black powder shooters didn't mix well so primitive weapons hunting areas were developed, that worked well for several years...

    25 06 on deer

The .270 is not much different than 25-06, as others have pointed out sometimes a larger bullet can get the job done more efficiently. I also use a 45-70 and you can eat right up to the hole on any size deer.

    25 06 on deer

Where I hunt griz abounds, therefore I shoot deer with what I carry in the bush in my area. .338 WM 225 gr Barns ttsx, surprisingly very little meat loss. Used to use a .270 with a lot more meat loss.

    Anybody reload at the range?

I used to shoot obsolete cartridge matches, due to the scarcity of casings I had to reload them at the range in order o complete the match. I had a winch front bumper on the front of my pickup that made the perfect loading bench, I had holes drilled and mounted the press there it was easy enough...

Do you use sealer or moisture sealer on your reloads?

I found a bunch of .270 reloads that I did up many years ago and they turned green with a corrosion-looking film on them, I thought what the heck I will throw them in my wet tumbler and see what happens. They came out sparkling clean, I took them to the range just for giggles. Not one misfired.

    Powder-what is a good price?

Welcome to Canadian prices...we think $50 is a bargain!

Do you remember the first centerfire rifle you fired and do you reload for that caliber today?

10 year old....375 H&H? Father should be charged with ...child abuse!

How much did you spend on equipment (not supplies) to reload?

Back in '57 I started reloading with a 310 Lyman hand tool, in '58 I upgraded to a Lyman single stage press, and I still use it today. Add a beam scale, Lee trimmer and you can get started. I now use the same outfit to load about a dozen different calibers.

Should we start to boycot these high prices?

Take up golf, tennis, needlepoint, fishing, etc. Leave the rifles, shotguns, and handguns, in the safe, I guarantee you the prices of ammunition and loading components will drop in price drastically. The only problem is getting everyone on board, just look at the gas prices, a service station on...
