I bet you're right on the thread size, they list 1/2x28 on the Backcountry and 5/8X24 on the Longrange Lightweight with the Proof barrel, but don't specify on the steel barreled Longrange. I put the micrometer on mine and it's .632 od. on the threads

My Cooper XLR Longrange 6.5X284 is .753 at the brake. Pmacc60, do you have any brass to go with it?

I've shot the 180 Scirocco in a 300 Dakota and killed elk at 20 yards and antelope a 470. It kills like lightning and has been very accurate in my Dakota 97. I just got some 130s to try in my 6.5x284 Cooper LR
