    Neck turning and Blown primers

I have measured every dimension I could think of on fired cases, loaded cases and cases prepped to be loaded. I have no method to measure variances in powder but the one thing I have found is post bullet seating a slight increase (0-2 thousandths) in diameter on some of the cases at the case...

    Neck turning and Blown primers

As for the donut. One is not discern able and the ID reamer in the neck turning operation is supposed to elevate one if present. It did not appear to be cutting any material. The dropping a bullet into the fired case method is a no go. If a fella desired he could have taken these fired...

    Neck turning and Blown primers

Trim length has not changed. Head space has not been an issue for the last 379 rounds down the tube and nothing about my case prep changed other than the OD neck turning and ID reaming. These cases are once fired Fed. Gold medal match that I FL resized. ( I know They are not the most desire...

    Neck turning and Blown primers

Guess I should state that I had worked up to the load prior to turning.. And a little past it, but it shot best. It had over 100 rounds through it with no issues. I also double checked my scales and they are still spot on. So that wasn't the issue. Just a little shocked that shaving a hair...

    Neck turning and Blown primers

So I have a .260 rem. I've been shooting Precision matches with. My load was a 140 Berger over 41.4 grains of H4350 with a COL of 2.850 I was having some chamber a little tight and decided to turn the necks. Took of a thou. Not even 100% clean up on the neck. Loaded some up using same old...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Anybody having any luck getting brass? New brass even in 8 mag seems rare right now. I can't see myself buying the nosler custom stuff. That must be plated with unobtanium and forged in the heart of a dying star!

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Got a question for you guys. Anyone out there using a detachable mag on your Rem. 700 STWs? Mine started as a 700 sps then I put a Bell and Carlson medalist stock on it. The internal box has been fine for hunting but I'm looking to try these precision rifle matches a and want to run mags...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

I would have to agree with WildRose. If your going to go light for a carry rig I would start out at 28 and brake it. Foot, I already did and it's very pleasant to shoot. I suggest ear pro though. Lol

New rig ready for first blood?

First kill of the new year with the STW. It's a little much on yotes but this one was close enough it didn't tear him up too bad. I have a tendency to get bored when the deer aren't moving and start calling. The best gun is the one in your hand when you need it, right?

New rig ready for first blood?

The sow was probably 175 or so. I expected her to taste well. Very surprised, my brother claims the boar tasted great. I was, possibly in error, ready to let him have it.

New rig ready for first blood?

What a shame, no pistol handy! That boar was over 350. First one I've ever killed with the "armor plates" in his shoulders. It was like the shell on a logger head snapping turtle under the skin. Very cool.

New rig ready for first blood?

It sure is rewarding when something you planned out and for the most part built yourself, then hand loaded for and tested and tweaked really works. My nephew really thought it was cool, hitting 'em on the other side of the wheat field. I can probably call this one "old trusty" now.

New rig ready for first blood?

Kinda digging up an old thread, but I haven't been around in a while. Got the rig back out and did some work recently. Pretty good day. That 168 Berger is a stopper!
