Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

Okay I finally snuck out of the house for a quick range session. Started with 77.0gr Retumbo and worked up to 80.0gr. I got first signs of pressure in the form of ejector marks on the Lapua brass at 79.5gr and definite marks at 80.0. My best group was with 79.0 grains with a MV of 2891fps with a...

Tikka Bottom Metal and Action Screw fitment issues

Yes, MESA corrected the inletting issues. It’s been so long now I can’t remember if they also sent longer action screws or not.

Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

Just loaded up some 300PRC with 195gr BD-2. Starting 0.020” off lands and load from 77.0gr - 80.0gr of Retumbo. They fit my Hawkins hunter mag with plenty of space. Using once fired Lapua brass and Fed215’s. Hope to send these down range this coming week, will post results then. Rifle is built...

300 PRC go no go loaners

Hey All, I purchased a set of 300 PRC go and no go gauges from Manson for a build I’m now done with. They are available for loan if any one needs. Will do 30$ for both shipped to lower 48. You pay for return shipping when done.

    Glass bed modeling clay

I’ve had good luck with plumbers putty and Hornady One shot case lube as a release agent. The Pro-bed2000 kits I’ve been using come with an excellent release agent paste that works as well. I use the paste in the lug areas and actions screw holes. I personally find the clean up associated with...

I’m stumped, what am I overlooking?

So I think I figured it out gents. My initial measurements taken from the shoulder were good but not precise enough. Long story short I measured my go gauge with a comparator which came to 3.227”. The brass that I couldn’t close the bolt on were (I’m guessing here since my calipers don’t read to...

Never even made it to that step of the process.

I’m stumped, what am I overlooking?

Now that I’m looking at the shell holder it looks like it wasn’t ground square at the factory. The bevel on the backside is noticeably taller than towards the front. Checked my other RCBS holders and they are not like this.

I’m stumped, what am I overlooking?

Honing down the shell holder would accomplish the same in a sense correct? I don’t have a machine at my disposal to take off the die.

I’m stumped, what am I overlooking?

New rifle, I just cleaned up the chamber with the AW2 reamer. I too feel like the shoulder needs to get set back on the brass. The FL sizer is maxed out for shoulder set back.
