Why you need to Understand Vista Outdoors and What They Own

It's happening in every industry these days. Consolidation is happening all around us and the Gov. hasn't done anything about, both parties. Monopolies are bad for innovation, consumers, workers, and capitalism.

    Load recommendation for 1000 yards

All of the competitions I’ve competed in when it was my turn to sit behind the berm to mark the targets, I could tell by the crack of the bullet passing overhead that all of the guys shooting .308, they were all transonic or subsonic. I think you’ll be hard pressed to get the velocity you want...

Verticle Spreading and load development help - where to go from here?

I think you need to keep going with the searing depth test. I don’t load for .300 WM but for everything I do load for, I’ve found reducing the max load by 10% (as long as its higher the starting load, always is in my experience) this is the load I use for searing depth test, then for my...

    brass annealing machine

Wow! That’s cool. A few years ago I built a torch type annealer. It’s pretty consistent. I got my initial burn time using templac. After putting the brass in the hopper you don’t have to do much other than making sure it’s feeding properly. Every once in a while it’ll double feed.

Best FFP scope for the buck?

I’ve been very happy with my Steiner T5xi. Cheaper than their “M” line. I bought my 5-25x56 for $1800. Very light for a 56mm lens. The “T” line is made in the USA instead of Germany but still uses schott glass.

    6.8 Western

It seems like a good option to me. Modern times are trending towards heavy for caliber bullets. So a lot of these new case designs address the problem of those heavies not fitting in actions. I embrace a world where we have options. Not saying I’m going to run out and get one, but if I was in...

280 Ackley or something more common?

If you’re going to only rebarrel your current browning .308 then you have a .473 bolt face so 7 RM is out. I don’t know Browning actions but I’m assuming it’s a short action which means .280 AI is out. Dough! Back to square one. Maybe .284 win would fit? I thing it’s abit long for most short...

Which caliber for Remington 700 long action (3006 bolt face) rebarrel?

I’m in the same boat as the OP. I have 2 30-06’s both need new barrels. I thought I had settled on .280 AI but your post has me thinking .284 win with the long throat. I had considered a straight up .284 win and also 6.5-284. Can 6.5-284 or a standard .284 (not long thrust fit in a short...

    Youth - 260 Rem or 25.06??

I’m with tiny Tim on this. While I’d prefer the.260 but as you stated in the future will be elk hunting. So the long action might come in handy for that. You can also change the bolt head out for a magnum on savages, at least I can on mine.

Carbon Fiber Tripod - Recommend me a setup

That BTX rail looks very nice but man that is a lot of money to pay. You could just get a quick release camera plate from a photography store. Arca Swiss is a standard in the photography world. Many of brand stuff out there for cheap.

Carbon Fiber Tripod - Recommend me a setup

That looks like a great solution for a rifle without a rail. Thanks for sharing. This looks much better than a hog or pig saddle.
