    Old Brass

Gotcha. Will check the next time I try seating a primer in one. Speaking of that, I only have 100 Rem 9.5 Magnum primers left so I will use those sparingly. I suppose that I can try to seat another Magnum primer and throw it away when I find if they seat or not. Thanks.

    Old Brass

When do you stop using old brass? Hornady .375 H&H brass is $2/case. I have about 80 old Winchester cases that have been reloaded no more than three times with a relatively mild-2640 fps-260 gr. Nosler Accubond. How does a person tell when it's time to retire them?

    Special needs hunter help?

Yeah, I’m not disabled except being older-67. Been using trekking poles for about 5 years while hiking and hunting Montana. It sounds like your wife’s physical stability could be helped by trekking poles. I have two bad knees but can still do 12 mile days out and back in rough terrain and the...

Huns & Sharp tails near Billings Montana

I haven't actually hunted them there but I have run into Sharptails North of Billings also. Around Molt in the dry washes running through grain fields.

Huns & Sharp tails near Billings Montana

I live about 20 miles West of Billings. Pick up OnX Hunt maps for cheap and check out Block Management areas there. We got into Huns about 25 miles Southwest of Blgs years ago on a piece of private land. I knew the owner who has since sold the place. Incidentally, my brother put an incredible...

    Krag 30-40 Ammo Needs

I have some old .30-40 Krag factory cartridges I might be willing to part with. Let me see if I can dig them out.

    water canteen for hunting

I can second the smart brand water bottles paired with a hydration pack. Best of both worlds. If I had to choose one or the other I would choose the hydration pack.

Vacation questions: West Yellowstone and Grand Tetons

We are close enough to take day trips(long day trips) from our house into Yellowstone. Those on here that get annoyed at the traffic have to understand that tourists are going to stop and gawk at the critters. We call them 'bear jams' and we do what tourists do too, even though we have been...

    Utah cow and Barnes TSX

I must say that my .375 loves the Accubonds. Put a new scope on it a few months back and the smith sighted it in with my 260-grain handloads. A 7-shot group at 100 yards was .919".

    Wolves poisoned in Oregon

Sorry, long story. I was in DC when the wolf 'reintroduction' first started in the 90's. A bunch of people from all over were sitting at those round tables in a convention room. After the introductions were over talk turned to wolves. Some genius from NY said, "Well let's get an opinion from...

    How accurate is ONX?

That is a different situation that I have also seen. However that vast majority of landowners in my experience will let you know exactly where their property boundary is. Unless their fence on public land blocks access or something like that, I respect their line. The only way I would take it up...

    How accurate is ONX?

bigngreen: two years ago while signing up with a warden to hunt a giant block management property in HD 702 we were told that the fence is the line no matter where the actual property boundary is. I think FWP would do well to clarify that for consistency. While he was telling us this, he pointed...

    How accurate is ONX?

Once more, I use it all of the time. Currently running for a seat in the state legislature. I use it to find the locations of people I want to visit with about the campaign.

    Non-resident license fees.

So, this is old but Montana has been sued multiple times over our non-resident license costs. I will continue to look for cases but I think we have been sued at least 3 times and the SC has said the fee structure is constitutional. If I remember, the reasoning also applies to out-of-state...
