Tim, within the last month I purchased a 20 MOA one piece base from Ken Farrell for my savage model 10. I would suggest you give them a call. As far as the base goes, I am please with the design and quality. I haven't shot the rifle, but I am trying to get to it.

Ian, thanks for the help. I ordered the 20moa base today and should have it by the weekend. Now on to the rings and the scope and I am almost ready to start shooting.

I am planning on buying a Ken Farrell base and a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5X14X40 for my 308. If I get the 20MOA base taper, will I be able to get a 100 yd zero?(I am new, so please bare with me) If I go without any taper, how much adjustments do you think I will have? Thanks

Thanks for the info guys. You gave me just what I needed to get started. I have the brass, powder,primers, and a new pact scale and powder dispenser to get started. I will order some bullets today. I plan on loading some rounds while I conitue my search for a scope. How much scope do I need...

I am at the very early stages of getting set up for long range shooting. I figured that I would start practicing with my 308 and then move up to something bigger at a later date. What loads are you guys using? Which bullets seem to work the best? Thanks for any info.

Ian, I just wanted to check and see if you had a chance to shoot the encore at farther distances? If so, how did it do? I haven't ordered a new barrel yet, but it will probably be done soon. Billy

I am sorta in the same situation as Brian, but my only problem is that I am left handed. Would going with a LSS or BLD in 300 RUM be a good start? The barrel contour is a big difference. What affects will this have? [ 03-01-2003: Message edited by: LaSouthpaw ]

BH & Ian, thanks for the info. I just checked the fox ridge website and I can get a barrel 26" and with a .995" diameter. So they can cover the contour, but only 26". If I want to go longer, I will have to go to bullberry or virgin valley. What would the benefit be for going to say a 28" barrel?
