Its not exactly a smooth boattail like you're probably used to. Its sort of a slight step or a small shoulder might be a good description. Never had any problems seating but I've always been careful starting them.
I have nearly the same experience with the Sauer 100 I bought one to try and have since bought a 2nd. Mine both shoot good with factory loads and exceptional with handloads. Actions are super slick. Those German "entry level" guns are as good if not better quality than most domestic higher grades.
As have I but I noticed Hodgdon and Nosler both show their load data with these powders with lrp instead of magnum primers. I may do work up with both and compare results.

The man that taught me the basics of handloading killed everything in North America with the exception of the big bears with a Parker Hale 270 Win and 130 gr Sierra GameKings. His old 270 was'nt pushing those GKs nearly as fast as this Ackley. I cant wait to see the performance on game.
Very pleased to report the results. 58.5 gr RL16 with the 131 gr Hvy Hammer produced a 5 shot group measuring 1.218 @ 200 yds averaging 3,327 fps at the pipe. That dog'll hunt! Thank you Mr Steve of Hammer for your products and suggestions on powder.
