No issue in cold weather for me and I'm 400 miles from Canada. You need to let them cold soak in the outside temp so that the ballistic input is accurate. You can't just take them off the dash of your warm truck and go outside and range something.

Yep, black bear tracks and scat in several valleys, including around the elk carcass the day after I had shot it. lots of mountain lion tracks also. I came across a mountain lion den with fresh tracks from the same day.

I think 300 wsm, 7 wsm or 270 wsm are better elk caliber choices to use in a tikka action with magnum bolt for longer high bc bullets. I got a great deal on a tikka 7rem mag and am wrestling with which caliber to rebarrel for for a light weight elk rifle.

I shot my bull last week from above shooting down into 5 and out through 4 from 65 yards with a 100 grain broadhead starting at 275fps . He was dead within 5 minutes. He still ran 250 yards with his heart cut in half.
