    Mountain goat hunt,what gun?

We live in Northeast Bc, and hunt goats. I can say that, yes lightweight is important but long range shooting is more important. The idea of 1000 yards couldn’t be more important in goat or sheep hunting. There are real chances that present themselves and long range shooting increases those odds...

    Leupold VX 5-HD 3-15 vs Leupold VX 6-HD 3-18

I have two of the vari x 6 scopes. Only one has the electronic level indicator. This was the reason I bought the second one and not another Huskemaw. Gotta say I am disappointed with it, in the brightness of the day, you cannot really see the illuminated reticle even at the highest brightness...

    Best 300 RUM Brass??

So these ADG guys were just at the shotshow telling everyone that they loaded 300 RUM brass 32 times before the brass gave up...... The local gunshop here is going to bring some in, the price point is a little more than 1/2 of Lapua or Norma brass. It's pretty interesting to see how it...

Help with info on dialing in MOA 2nd focal plane scope

I am far from an expert, but....I think it is possible by adjusting your power setting on your scope and your zero. The example I have is my 300 RUM has a leupold vari x 6, 3-18x44. I bought it for hunting but like you I enjoy dabbling in the long range. The scope has a varmint reticle in...

    Best 300 RUM Brass??

Thanks guys, i saw on midway usa lapua listed in 300rum, i think because i already have about 100 remington ill just stick with that. Its hard to get the right components here in Canada, midway wont ship here and not many of our dealers carry Lapua brass, i think its probably because of the...

    Best 300 RUM Brass??

Super old thread but do you guys think this still rings true? I have some remington brass for my 300 RUM but was looking to purchase some more. I see Lapua and Norma both make 300 RUM now, sounds like they didnt in the past. The Lapua and Norma are close in price, remington is a fair bit cheaper...

Huskemaw Blue Diamond vs Nightforce SHV

The .33 MOA is 1/3 inch, they do that so they can get more elevation for the same amount of clicks. In the hunting world it's my opinion that it is accurate enough. And the Huskemaw does have caps, I leave mine off on the elevation. would be nice to have a quick cover of some type

    Ladder test

This is a great thread, if any of you guys have a downloadable/printable data sheet that works well it would be great to see that here. I will be working some loads up for my 300 RUM shortly and will be ladder testing that. I am going to poke around the old web and see if I can find one, if I...

    best production rifle out there

Not sure I understand this? What's wrong with a carbon fiber in weather? my brother in law has a Christensen in 338 lapua, I saw him go underwater with it across his back crossing a river, he slipped and fell on the rocks. No issues with that gun in weather. Has it topped with a mark 4 leupold...

    Accuracy of a Ballistics Calculator?

Search some other threads on here, some good info available. A ballistic calculator works off math, like a calculator should. But dont believe for a minute it is exact, there is something in every gun that makes it shoot different from the exact gun next to it. Use the calculator as a guide but...

    Which would you pick.. 7mm08 - 270

Im not sure youncan go wrong with either. I dont have a 270 but do have a 270wsm and a 7-08 both are in a sako A7. The 7-08 has a huskemaw on it and comes in right at 8.2 lbs scoped, clip in but no bullets in the clip. Wife took her moose with it this year at 460 yards. I found the lead in the...

    100 or 200 Yard Zero???

That's exactly right. Doesn't really matter what you pick for a zero. Pick 200, that probably means that your about and inch and a half or maybe 2 inches high at 100. As long as you know that then you can check zero at 100. Print off a ballistic chart and follow that. Nice deer by the way!!
