7mm-08 is what you're looking for. Already been said, but worth repeating.

If the rifle likes the 162s then use them. If it wants to shoot 150s then look for Scirocco 150s. 7-08 on elk, even with factory 140's, you're good to whatever range your niece can reliably put the round in the kill zone. Good luck and hope to see pictures from the hunt!

Whatever bullet you can put in a wolf is the right bullet. I've heard tell of snowmobilers riding them down in the powder and finishing them with 22lr before there was a season on them. Whatever it takes to take out as many as possible. I wish it was legal to poison them.

Takes me 18 MOA to get there with my .264 140gr, but they are pretty slippery and yours being bigger diameter is going to make them less slippery. As previously suggested you're probably going to end up between 20 - 25 MOA to impact at 1000yds.

Bingo! Use the gun you shoot the best, at the ranges you expect to encounter, and make your shots go where they need to be.

Hornady. Best going of the three I've seen or used. Homemade from small concrete mixer and 5 gallon bucket is close second, but I don't let my brass build up enough to need that much capacity.

I have hunted that unit. Last year it was easy pickens and there were a lot of nice bucks. Saw two that were takers, but only had two doe tags. Good unit last year. No intel on what it will be this year.

I am. I was up on the CdA River. The hills I hunt are between Prichard and Murray. I have to be careful when I'm trailing them so I don't wander into Montana.
