    Pheasant load recommendations?

I've hunted pheasants about 40 Years. Loads I usually shoot are 2 3/4 "( don't waste your money on magnum loads) # 6, 5, or 4's. 4 shot later in the season when birds are more spooky and sometimes flush at 40 yes or more. A missed shot at 40 yes or less, don't blame your gun or your shells. Good...

    Scope Questions??

You are corrrct about my scope. If I go and sight it in for longer shots, say 300 yds, how does that affect shooting or aiming at targets that are 100yds or closer??? Would I hold the crosshairs a little below the intended target at closer ranges?? Thanks for you help!!!!

    Scope Questions??

I am pretty much a greenhorn at coyote hunting!! I am using a Weatherby 25-06. The scope that I have is 4.5-14x42. I sighted it in at 100yds. I also shot at a target at 150yds out and it was pretty much dead on at that distance. I have not really shot at a thing say 200yds or further yet. My...

    Deep Snow & Bitter Cold

The hunters here who use the dogs would normally stop at slough or abadoned farm place. Get out and shoot a 22 around a bit and see if anything comes busting out the other end. If a coyote or fox comes out, they turn their greyhounds loose. The dogs will chase that coyote until it is so tired...

    Deep Snow & Bitter Cold

Thanks so much for your input. Many of the things you mentioned I try to do. Here in SW Minn, it is farmlaned usually one square mile sections, although there are a few 2 mile sections very nearby. Tipically there are fencelines, creekbottoms, pastures, and old farm groves for wildlife to live...

    Deep snow & very cold?

Thanks for your help. I had a friend with a snowmobile make some hard walking paths out in sections where coyotes are. That helped my mobility, but also one particular track is now like a "Coyote Hiway" by the dog tracks that are on it! I am new to his sport and need all the help!!!

    Deep Snow & Bitter Cold

I would sure appreciate some advice on calling and shooting coyotes under these very wintry conditions. I know coyotes are in the area, but so far I havent had any sucess. The deep snow has drifted in all the grass type cover here in SW Minn. Coyotes seem to be hanging around old farm groves...

    Deep snow & very cold?

How does 24" of snow and very cold temps(0 to -20) affect your coyote hunting tactics and how does it affect a coyote's daily routine?? At first the snow was a killer to try to walk any distances to set up. Now it has gotten easier to walk, but much more noisier, very squeaky. Is calling from...
