I have found that Hornadys 87gr bullet has a very high BC.
When shooting the 100 gr, 117 gr, and the 87 gr bullets to 200 yds they all grouped into a 1.9" group.
Does the Accubond bullet have a good Reputation going at 3160 fps. Say 200 yds away or 400 yds away. Or is it going to go right threw the game. Any input is good.
Rifle used is the 338 RUM
I have the 338 RUM in 700 action 26" barrel. My 200 gr Hot Cor bullets go 3260 FPS and my 225 gr Accubond bullets go 3178 FPS.I use RL25 powder
The 200 gr Hot Cor bullets shoot a 5/8" group at 200 yds and the 225 Accubond bullets shoot a 7/8" group at 200 yds.
I have heard that the WBY 340 with...
Some cheap 180 bullets that have a pretty high B.C. are those Speer hot core bullets. I have found in my 338 RUM the 200 Speer Hot Core bullets do 3260 FPS. So I got some 180's for my 300 also.
I have loaded for my 338 RUM and is listed in Noslers load book fifth edition, 98gr of RL25 behind a 225gr Nosler bullet. That goes 3227 FPS says Nosler. I have found that the FPS that Nosler gives is a little fast out of my rifle.
I shoot my 22-250 off sand bags and hunt ground hogs with a bypod no problem. If you rest your rifle in the same spot as the bypod is conected to the rifle. It the same pressure point. If its different you'll have a different point of aim then your bullets impact point.
Each rifle has a different purpose the 338 RUM is a fast 338 caliber buller would be good for those big bears and the 300 RUM is a fast 30 caliber bullet good for long range shots at Elk or deer or Caribou. They are great rifles I own them both.
In my 300 RUM I use H1000. It gave me a 3/4" 3 shot group at 200 yds going 3225 fps and I shot the center bulls eye with it at 600 yds. Top FPS was 3225 using noslers 180 gr. partition
bullets.
