Well definitely alot of opinions here. In general I would say the .300 Win Mag.
With proper bullet selection, it will kill anything and its readily available.
It can be carried in a relatively light rifle, recoil is very manageable and almost non existent with a good brake and rifle weight...
So negative. I live in California. I hunt A zone....you wanna talk about tough?
Try opening weekend...105 degrees, rocky steep ****, full of brush, no water.
Success rate is like 10%. And if your lucky you get an average forkey.
It's tough hunting but it shapes a person...
I just bought a Howa HS Precision I. .300 win mag. One option comes from the factory 26" threaded and ready for a brake. The other is a 24" no threads. Both come with a HS Precision stock, the threaded can be found for around 980.00, the non threaded for about 100.00 less. I'd say get the...
One thing I love about the internet is the ability to research and evaluate tons of information and opinions. Notice I didnt say blindly follow others research and opinions.
I just bought my first 300 win mag this month and here is why.....
First, it is time tested. This cartridge has been...
Brownells sells them
Mine is a full rifle from legacy. I couldnt get it cheaper than 910 before taxes....even if I bought the stock and barreled action seperate
If you wanna go that route....try buying a barreled action, and picking a stock.
Like I said...I went with howa because of the reputation and quality. Very decent feeling 2 stage trigger too
The 6.5-300 looks awesome, I am a 6.5 fan myself. I shoot a .260 Remington and love it, but the bullet selection for copper is limited.
I shoot a 120 gr copper it loves, but the 140's take up too much case space.
I'd like to have gone with the 7mag also. But as I said, copper bullet selection is better. 2 of my hunting partners shoot a 300, only one shoots a 7mag
I went through this also. I almost got a 7mm Rem mag...if you can hunt in states that dont require non-lead....you can find good bullets to load a 7 with. I went with a 300 win mag because the copper selection was the best, not because I thought it was that much better than a 7mm Rem Mag.
If I...
