Wow! What a great opportunity Len. And a great big thanks to Lilja. Lilja's articles got me interested in antelope and long range shooting many years ago. They are a must read...very interesting stories on hunting and high end barrel manufacturing.
Thanks again guys,
Ben
Need to go with a heavy bullet for caliber with some powders...especially the WC872 surplus and similar grades. 264-6.5's may do much better with 140 grainers.
These slow military grade powders are known to be very temperature sensitive. Some have noted 200 fps differences between cool and warm days...not cold and hot mind you. The near 200fps difference noted above may have been from rounds warming in the chamber.
So your modified trigger weight spring, which is the only component to ensure sear engagement upon cocking, gets rubbed back and forth every time the safety is used? If it ever wears, you can slam fire or bump fire easily. You may have good success with that setup but it is asking for trouble in...
You set the overtravel with the gun NOT cocked by turning the recessed screw in until it touches the safety, then back it off a little to allow for sear clearance without excessive overtravel or safety drag.
Savage 110 Trigger Adjustment explains everything. The second screw in the back of the trigger is recessed just in front of the safety adjustment screw on my 112 .
It is a sliding tang safety...the slider actuates a pivoting plate on the side of the trigger housing.
I'll try Savage Shooters Forum as suggested...Thanks.
Who makes triggers for the older Savage 112 flat rear actions? Mine doesn't resemble any in the Brownells or Midway online catalogs. It has a single countersunk screw that holds it in place against a lateral groove in the bottom of the receiver. It has an integral safety mounted on the side of...
My guess is it is graying at 25X mainly because you are getting just over a 2 mm exit pupil added to the glass being very good but not top tier stuff. I'll give you $200 for that crappy graying junker....LOL!
