    Longest Kill Shot ?

What are you going to do if you just wounded it? Your 3/4 of a mile away and it will take you an hour to get to the animal. Think you king recovered under those circumstances?

    338 or 375 or 416?

I have and use both the 338 Winchester magnum and the 375 Weatherby. I would prefer the 338 in my semi automatic Browning BAR for close in work and the 375 Weatherby for any ranges up to 300 yd. I would not take a shot at it Brown bear beyond 300 yd. I hope this helps your decision making.

    Semi auto hunting

The Browning BAR is a fine gun. You enjoyed immensely.

Meopra uses Schott HT glass - best in the world.

    best long range elk gun

Au contraire, the Weatherby shoots 100 - 150 fps faster per bullet weight. This makes little difference on power, but does make a difference on trajectory.

Would you ever buy a used scope on amazon?

Check with Zeiss, they will usually refurbish them for free.

Talk me out of getting Swarovski EL 10x42’s

The Swarovski El's are the best. I hunt with the 8 by 30 SLC 's and I'm completely satisfied. You should consider the added eight of the rangefinder which can become a factor if you do a lot of glassing. Otherwise having the rangefinder in the binoculars can be incredibly convenient.

    Bullet for .375 H&H Moose/Grizzly

Any good bullet will work in a 375 H&H. I particularly like the 260 accubond and the 250 Barnes TSX. Both give long range shooting ability for moose and will stop a grizzly on a dime returning 9 cents change.

    Tikka, first rifle calibers-recoil

Have you considered a .257 Roberts?

    Comfortable shooting magnum caliber

I would suggest you look closely at the .257 Weatherby magnum and the .270 Weatherby magnum. Both are these calibers can be obtained very inexpensively with the Weatherby Vanguard series of rifles. Amunition could be a little bit expensive, however if your only intrested in hunting it...

    Too late to start?

I've got Muddyboots trumped by about 9 years and I concur with his sentiments exactly. Get yourself a good rifle, a good pair of boots and head out into the wonderful world of the "woods." Hopefully you'll be successful and you can bring your animal home. Then turn to your wife and say, after...
