Yep Yep, I've been running N570 for close to 10 years in the big .338s and had always seen temp stability (or the barrel was contracting too...or all the other things that we think can account for temps stability) but had never shot it in temps this low. It's weird how N550 being in the same...

A little more temp data on 62.7g N550, Berger 250g and the 25" barreled 338 Sherman Max. At 52F average of 2805 fps with no pressure signs. At 14F today with same load I was at 2750 fps MV. Still good ES, but dropped 55 fps. Hope this helps folks. The odd thing is that I run N570 in a 338...

A spike bull back in designated wilderness fell to the 338 Sherman Max from 858 yds a couple of days ago. A bit of variable wind, but POI on the bedded bull was very close to POA right through the engine room...

Took it out to 1358 yds today in temps about 15F below what I'd zeroed at and the using the 1fps to 1F in ABMobile put me spot on. Very still day so pretty confident. Anyone else playing with this?

With the 338 Sherman Max, 250g Berger Elite Hunter and VV N550, what kind of temperature vs. fps per degree F are you guys seeing? I'm thinking it's nearly a 1F to 1fps relationship. What are you guys seeing?

Compressed load at 67g N555? I musta missed Rich talking about N555 as I don't recall seeing anyone doing load workup with .388 Sherman Max and N555 yet. Thanks for the report and let us know how it goes with H100V. Be curious to see what your accuracy load with N550 is...?

Be very curious to see what load you end up with using N555 and 250g Bergers. Have recently settled on 62.7g N550 with 1/10”, 25” Hart at 2790fps with 250 Bergers.

Thanks, Rich. How temp sensitive in this chambering have folks found these three powders to be? Which is most temp stable? VV550, H100V, RL17.

Have components heading to Shawn Carlock for a 338 Max. Want a 'temp-stable' powder. VV550/555? Or? Anyone have idea of where to get said magic powder? Pretty sparse for everything it seems at the moment...
