I wish that I would have read this post sooner. I had a 710 and I was very amazed at the accurac that I got out of it. I also had the .270 and I was shooting the Hornady 130gr sst. I also put on a barrel deresonator and a limbsaver recoil pad for length ( I have long monkey arms). I shot a 5...
Sorry to hear that....I know that this will sound wierd but have you tried shooting with your mouth open? Like your'e popping your ears? I can't remember who I heard it from but it might work. If it does work let me know. You might look a little wierd doing it but hey if it keeps you shooting...
Hello everybody. I guess I should introduce myself. I am 29 years old, married with 3 girls and a boy. I enjoy shooting, hunting and fly fishing and I am just getting introduced into the long range shooting game so forgive my endless questions that I will no doubt have and have probably already...
I have nothing but success with the .270. I also have not needed a second shot with the round and i even took a woodchuck at 512 yards with it. I was just wondering why nobody seems to want to build a rig around the round and was wondering why? Is it because of the lack of numerous bullet wieghts?
I have a H&R Ultra Varmint with a fluted 24" barrel in .223. My question for anybody is 1) does anybody own one 2) would you recommend getting the .308 barrel for it and finally 3) getting the most accuracy out of it.
Thanks,
John
Believe it or not the most accurate rifle out of the box that I have ever shot was the remington 710 in .270. I put a 5 shot group at two hundred yards that you could put a dime over using Hornady 130gr sst. I also nailed a woodchuck at 512 yards with it. All I added to it was a limbsaver barrel...
Hello. I was just wondering what ya'll though about the .270 as a long range hunting/target gun. I have seen posts on the .260 and other rounds but I am curious as to why the .270 is left out? Any help/info would be appreciated.

I just solved that dilemma the day after Thanksgiving this year. I shot this 8pt through the heart at 200 yards...needless to say he didn't go far. I was using a 50gr jhp and believe it or not I got a pass through.
