It is a "solution" that doesn't really have a problem. As you can see, it isn't exactly common knowledge that one is needed. I have sized hundreds of rounds of belted brass for 338 and 7mag and never had a need to size differently than any other piece of brass. One reply above alludes to brass...

I believe these are intended to be cut to fit. Trim the shoulder until headspace is correct.

My guess is the cocking piece was not assembled correctly. If you leave it out a turn, it will not be readily apparent and will look fine but not fire.

Why chamber a long action in a short, short action cartridge? I think it will probably work, but it may give feeding problems with a round that short. I would go 25-06. It will feed as the 270 does, and you can shoot the lightning bolt 85 Ballistic Tip in it. It just seems to be a better fit to me.

Anyone know of these? I have never seen nor heard of them. Dated 2008. Alloy, appear to be good quality.

It looks like you are figuring it out. If you are in a position that takes muscles to hold it, you will see the muscle quiver in the hairs. Shooting 50' smallbore is probably the best way to learn to hold a rifle. You have a sling and you learn to hold with bone structure instead of muscle...

My favorite for the price is the Blackhawk. They are about $50, good feel and they make a swivel model. I found mine at Wal-mart

I know what you mean, I know Murphy very well, and he's a *****. :) Having the bolt out of the rifle only gives him a guarantee that it will disappear at some point.

Right at 3200. I would think you can get close, if not all that with the 284 case. I only have a 10" twist, so I cant shoot heavies. It loves 10 b-tips. 3500. Either bullet is about 21min at 1000. Nice to shoot.

This is gas leaking around the primer. Not good. it will cut the bolt face eventually. The ammo is bad, needs to be returned.

Different brass, same load? That can be a no-no. If the bolt opens easily, it must be sticking in the chamber, but I don't know what would cause that and not for the Lapua. If the bolt is hard to open, you need to back down on the powder charge and start the load development over.
