I have 2 Rock barrels, one on a 6.5x284 and one on a .308, both built by GAP. I broke them in per GAP's instructions. I cleaned after every shot until they quit copper and powder fouling.
On the 6.5x284, the barrel fouled horribly, with no noticable difference until the 8th shot, after which...
Ian,
for a decent, relatively inexpensive tripod, you may want to try the Slick Mini. It weighs less than 2 pounds and can be used at only 9" or so off the ground and extends to around 40". Its $60.

After reading soo much about different lots of RL 22 varying so much between lots and many times having large velocity swings d/t temperature, I decided to test the lot I have a couple pounds of. Im shooting a 300WM with 73.5RL22, 200 Accubond, @ 3030fps. I shot a 3 shot group @ 600 yards wich...
DB,
A pretty "standard" RL 22 load with 180's is around 75 grains and for 200's is around 73 or so. If you search around the internet youll see these loads come up again and again. Ive shot less than MOA with these loads out to 1000yds, BUT Im trying to find another powder as you are.

Send scope to premier for M1 turrets (around 175), buy Badger bases for both rifles (300) and 1 set 30mm Badger rings (130). With Badger, you can swap scopes and not be off by more than 1/2 moa. Record the difference between the rifles when you swap the scope and its simple. Save your money and...

WinMagMan, Im shooting 52.0 H4831, 140 Amax, 210m, Lapua brass, @ 2950fps, 26" Rock barrel. With the 139Scenar, Im @ 52.5 H4831 @ 2960fps. Around 52gr. seems to be the load with H4831 based on alot of peoples data Ive seen.

Everyone, thanks for the replys.
I dont really have a "problem" with the Dakota round, like I said, the brass is just expensive. It is an impressive round. Im getting 3200fps with a 160gr., using RL22. My rifle though, shoots just OK. Maybe 1 moa or slightly larger @ 400 yards, but only with 1...
