95 Berger vld vs 88 Berger varmint

The 95 vld has a very short bearing surface. I shoot them 0.020 off hard jam As that’s where they seem to like it. But with this seating depth there’s not much bullet shank in the case. My rifle has a .104 free bore And I believe a 60 or an 80 would be a lot better with these bullets.

95 Berger vld vs 88 Berger varmint

How is the bearing surface on the 87 vld? Short like the 95 is?

95 Berger vld vs 88 Berger varmint

I ran out of my 87 Vmax's for my 6 Dasher coyote rig and today worked up a load using the Berger 95 hunting Vlds and Varget and man are they accurate bullets. Half to three quarter inch 4 shot groups at 200 yards. I have also been thinking on trying the 88 Berger varmint bullet. Anyone ever try...

    Wolf caliber and round?

Very similar country to where I hunt. I use a McFadden ultimate tri pod to shoot off. Extremely steady rest but huge pain to pack.

What do you use for a rest at those ranges?

    Wolf caliber and round?

I live in the bc peace region. Coyotes and wolves galore. If you are a wolf hunter up here almost all cattle ranchers Will welcome you to come hunt wolves on their property Providing you have half a brain in your head And don’t accidentally shoot one of their cows of course. Few year ago it was...

    Wolf caliber and round?

I have taken two wolves so far using a 6 Dasher with 105 Berger hunting VLD”s. Both dropped in their tracks.

    Rangefinder for winter coyote hunting

Maybe dirty lenses were part of the problem on my Leica 1000. I honestly never cleaned them.

    Rangefinder for winter coyote hunting

I should have my kestrel 5700 elite in the mail tomorrow and also plan on pairing with the 2800 so hopefully it works reliably. That being said I have the come ups in the rangefinder matching StrelokPro and so far the Leica ballistics work very well out to 650 yards As that’s as far as I have...

    Strelok pro data

No I did not do that. Scope is a leupold 8.5x25x30 LR with the tall target turrets. No doubt this could be an issue. Clicks could be off.

Well maybe I will download it also and compare the two.

    Strelok pro data

Next weekend I am going to stretch it out to 800 yards and see what the results are as long as the weather warms up some.

    Strelok pro data

Yes maybe I am being too picky but one of my favourite targets at long range are magpies. They are tough to hit to say the least. That’s why I was worried about being bang on but you’re right too many variables could send that bullet an inch any which way. I just got back from the bush and set...

    Strelok pro data

So if dead on at 450 using the App would I not be close enough for minute of Coyote at say 800 ish yards providing accurate data was entered ?

    Strelok pro data

Thanks. I just tweaked the velocity on the App and had to enter 3280 fps instead of 3250 to get 6.5 MOA. That should be close to dead on at 450 yards. Ill try tomorrow. Funny thing is when i enter my actual chronographed velocity of 3226 fps the come up's are a ways off. No idea why. So is...
