New 338 Edge will not fire. What now?

He is in Austrailia. Maybe they have different rules on shipping firearms that we do in the US. Or maybe he wants it fixed as quickly as possible. A FTF with the 'smith would be worthwhile, also.

New 338 Edge will not fire. What now?

IMO the Edge is not worth the hassle. The 338 Ultra has plenty of energy and in a pinch you can shoot factory ammo. Like when you are 1100 miles from home and find that your ammo is still sitting on the bench. Ca ca happens. Probably he best way to fire form the brass would be to expand the...

    Bushing Bolt face?

I made up a bunch of bushings from an old CrMo barrel. Tinned them on the o.d. with soft solder. Held the bolt in a home-made "LaBounty" fixture and bored the snout out on the lathe. Held bolt vertical in vise, put a small amount of acid on the freshly machined area, placed tinned bushing on...

    .408 Chey Tac

Many gunsmiths and other knowledgable people feel that the 338-378 Wby is too much for the Remington 700. The Chey-Tac is bigger yet. Hold a case up against the bolt snout of a 700. The Chey-Tac rim is not a lot smaller than the Rem bolt head. BAT, Lawton and a few others make actions for...

No serial # on Rem 700???

I had Rem 722 (early version of a 700 SA) that didn't have a serial number on the receiver as we see on almost all 700s. Inside the receiver, on the left raceway cut, was the serial number. It was engraved there and same # was on the bolt. Look in there for a serial number.

    Remington 700 scope mounting problem

From the beginning, I was curious as to how the new barrel shot so far off from the oritiginal barrel but the poster didn't ask for possible reasons. My guess is that the new barrel was held in a lathe in such a manner that the muzzle was considerably off axis. Some 'smiths try to get the...

    Remington 700 scope mounting problem

Have you considered using Burris Signature rings? The eccentric bushings allow you to orient the scope at slightly different angles to accomodate barrels that "don't shoot where I'm looking". We use them on 1000 yard benchrest rifles, mainly to get the extra elevation required. They work...
