How much do you value brass brand consistency when reloading?

I use mixed brass also. I prep it all then weigh it. Any brass that is either too light or too heavy is discarded. Any off-center flash holes discarded. All flash holes de-burred inside. I rarely shoot over 150 yds.

    favorite deer caliber

6.5 X 55 Swiss in a Tweed rifle. Turkish 98 small ring Mauser action with Swiss surplus 6.5 X 55 barrel cut & crowned to 24 inches. 270 Win. in a German 98 Mauser action, Lothar Walter barrel. Both have Leopold glass, Tilney triggers, actions bedded, barrel floated. Lothar Walther did guarantee...

Found Primers but are they too much $$$

Powder Valley had some CCI's about $100, sold out pretty quick. Get on their mailing list and watch. I bought a case of LR and a case of SR and several thousand large Pistol several years ago.

    Opinions on prvi partizan brass

I reject a good bit due to off-center flash holes, but some is used. I like Winchester, Hornady, but Remington is most plentiful. Friends who don't reload give me their brass.

    rebarreling a mauser

I have always used Lothar Walther barrels & use all 98 mausers which are large ring. I have one Turkish 98 which has a small ring and I had installed a Swedish surplus 96 barrel in 6.5 X 55 cut & crowned to 24". I call it my Tweed. L&W did guarantee 1/2" at 100 yds. For mausers they are long...

    Pet Deer??

Years ago I had shot a deer and they had started to process it. It was hanging and the man had started skinning it. He asked me how my hunting had been so far. Immediately I started running my mouth. LOL! I told him I had hunted all over the place for days and no luck so I just went in our back...

Barrel break in true or not?

I don't know about now, but years ago Lothar Walther guaranteed their barrels would shoot 1/2" at 100 yds.

    What’s your favorite cartridge?

6.5 X 55 Swiss. Doesn't beat you up and it will reach out and touch. A very wide range of bullets to choose from.

Whats the cartridge you LOVE to HATE?

I shoot the 6.5 X 55 and love it. Reaches out and touches but doesn't beat me up.

What barrel manufacture for semi custom build?

I have used Lothar Walther barrels and are pleased with them also. Can go with off-the-shelf or custom manufacture.

I have a YUGO 44 action and would like to have a pre-threaded & tapered Shilen 7mm08 fit and headspaced on it. Cut and sporter crowned to 24 inch. Finish I have not decided on yet, would like something tough. Any suggestions? Is something you can do? Regards, Thomas Price.

Mauser Actions with Lug Abutment Setback

I just choose the Mauser actions which are heat treated well already. Each part of it is heat treated differently. VZ24's, the pre-war & early 2nd war Germans are fine. Stay away from WW1 era. Commercial actions by Sears etc. are nice, they don't have the thumb cut out, already have turned down...
