    Concentricity

Straydog, I don't use a concentricity gauge, but I did take the expander ball out of my dies. I deprime my .308 brass using a .300 WM die, and took the expander assembly out of the .308 die. The targets told me that it helped enough to make a difference.

    6.8 Remington SPC

I thought it was interesting, I bought some of the OEM blem bullets from Midsouth last week. Some of them were described as .270 caliber 130 gr. HPBT bullets. I ordered 300 of them for $4.95/100, and when they came they were the Hornady 115 gr. OTM bullets they made for the 6.8. Here's a...

    best deerrifle

My first deer rifle was a Lee Enfield Mk1No4 .303. It's an old British military bolt action with plenty of power, and an excellent deer rifle. They shoot a 180 gr. round nose Remington Coreloct at 2480 fps, if I remember right. It'll pile a deer up in a hurry!

    Getting ready for the seasons

No more getting ready for hunting season, it's already here for us. I got this 8 point about 6:30 AM last Saturday with a .308 Win and a 165 gr. Sierra Gameking HPBT.

    6.5x284

308 Win, I've never shot with Froggy, but several guys at Snipers Hide have, and he has a good very reputation there. You can see some targets he shot with this rifle at a new site, www.6mmbr.com, and some articles by him.

Help! Gun will no longer group at all!

It really sounds like a scope problem to me. Take the scope off, tighten everything, and put a known good scope on it. If it still is shooting 8" groups at 100 yards, try to straighten the barrel out with a large hammer and see if that helps. But, check that scope.

    Tasco 3 Turret Sniper Scopes

Tasco originally contracted for a company in Japan (NOT Hakko) to make the Super Snipers. When Tasco went under, SWFA bought the rights to the Super Sniper, and the same company in Japan is still making them for SWFA. So, SWFA is the only place to get one now. It's explained by SWFA in this...

    Factory bulk bullets????

Midsouth Shooters Supply is having a blem bullet sale right now. I don't know if all the bullets are Hornadys, but the ones I bought last year were. The SST's I got had a little discoloration, but shot great. Some of the spire points had the cannelure at the wrong place. It's a good way to...

    Most accurate hunting bullet

I'd try the 130 gr. SST's if I were you. They are very accurate in my .270 Win. Give 'em a try!

    Scope alignment to rifle

If you have Redfield type windage adjustable bases, you can line up the scope with the barrel. First, cut two V's out of a shoebox so the scope tube can sit in it. Adjust the crosshairs until they don't move when you set it on the box and spin it. This is to make sure the scope is...

    .257 Weatherby Vanguard

I have a Vanguard in .270, and it is a shooter. It shoots very well with 130 gr. SST's. Very slick action as well. My dad also has one in .30-06. It doesn't seem his is as accurate as mine, but I haven't tried to work up any good loads for it yet.

    Trigger for Howa

Like Chris said, you can work with the stock triggers to some extent. The trigger on my Weatherby Vanguard (it's the same as the Howa) developed a lot of very gritty creep. If you adjusted the creep out, the safety wouldn't work. You can very carefully machine fit the parts to make it work...

    Do belts affect accuracy?

A round that doesn't have a belt headspaces off the shoulder. That means that it slides into the chamber until the shoulder makes contact in the barrel. A belted round is designed to headspace off the belt. That is, it slides in until the belt makes contact. After the first shot, though, the...
