    Ruger #1 accuracy

There are a lot of good points being made here. And, a lot of frustrations vented. I get that. I guess in addition to the undeniable beauty of a #1, I have an attraction to a rifle who’s accuracy potential can be realized by applying some understanding of what is going on between the stock (both...

    Ruger #1 accuracy

Sodakota Sodakota, don’t give up on it yet. Over the past 20 years I have become known in my area as somewhat of a Ruger #1 aficionado. Years of experience and dozens of problem #1s, not to mention all the trial and errors that went along with that, have taught me a good deal about this awesome...

    375 Ruger Longest Range Load

I happen to have a 375 Ruger and a 375 RUM both. I’ve taken a number of elk with each, although at 73 years of age, I have pretty much retired the RUM. Never bothered me in my 60s, but I’ll be honest, it hurts anymore. My best load in the 375 Ruger is 83 grains of 4350 behind the 260gr Nosler...

Need advice on "painting" camo design on synthetic stock

For what it's worth, Mossy Oak sells a kit made from that formable vinyl. When you go around curves, you use your wife's hair dryer. A little heat and the vinyl acts like shrink wrap. It adheres very well and the stuff is tuff as nails.

Experienced Elk Killers Pick Your #1 Elk Cartridge

I voted for the 338 WM. When I'm asked, "what would a hunter in north America use a 338 for?", i have always replied by saying, "it's an elk gun!

    F Class rules.

I totally agree with you, and for that very same reason. What i am trying to do however, is varify that breaks are not permitted. The absence of any statement to that effect in the listed rules, leaves me without an explanation to the owner of this gun as to why I omitted the break he specified...

    Ideal Cartridge for Elk?

I'm almost 70. Ive taken so many elk, I've lost count. Here are some things I've learned. We all have our favorite cartridges. We fall in love with them. Sometimes we just like their name. (That has been proven by the major manufacturers on numerous occasions). In many cases it's how a...

Are the Viper scopes any good (4-16x50)?

I have one of the Viper 4-16x50. I shoot prairie dogs to 350 yards with it. I can say this for the one I have. That thing tracks better than any scope i have owned!

    F Class rules.

I'm building a rifle for a fellow who wants to get involed in F-Class-Open competition. There is an article titled introduction to F-Class that states "muzzle breaks are not permitted ". But, a copy of F-Class rules makes no mention of muzzle breaks one way or the other. Are any of you...

    Need some guidance..

Hey, if you want to hunt elk, my first choice is Utah. That state is hard to beat when it comes to huge bulls. That's something you probably know having lived there before. I'm 69 years old and live in Colorado, 19 miles from the Utah line. I've killed a number of elk. So many I've lost count...
