    7 twist 25-06ai bullet choices

The 110 BD2 is a fantastic bullet for high speed 257s. The BC is the best you'll find in it's weight class and it'll perform well under any situation. I shot this buck at 45 yards. He was bedded and I severely quartered away. He somehow stood up and stumbled a few yards after the shot, but he...

Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

I got my first kill with a .257 110gr SBD2 bullet earlier this month. Unfortunately, due to the Missile Range's photography policy I wasn't allowed to get any terminal performance pics. That said, I shot this oryx with my 1:7 twist 257 weatherby at 350 yards and an impact velocity of around...

    Favourite .257 weatherby projectile

For my 1:7 twist I've tinkered with these: left to right--110gr hammer, 128gr hammer, 110gr badlands super bulldozer2, 135 Berger, 131 BJ. The 128 is responsible for 2 one-shot kills with impressive terminal performance. But 3150fps is just too slow for my liking... It is a weatherby after all...

What twist rate? For the standard 1:10 you can't go wrong with the 100tsx, 110 accubond and 115 ballistic tip. I preferred the 115 myself.

    The 25 sst...up and running

I'd say you'll have marginal stability with that twist rate. 125s might work better. Personally, I love the 110s in my 257wby. Pretty easy to get them going 3500.

    25-06 vs 257 wby

I've only killed a few coyotes with the 131's. No issues, performance was similar to bergers. I've shot 115 ballistic tips, 115vlds, and 100gr partitions without any issues.

    25-06 vs 257 wby

257 wby is hard to beat. I've used mine to kill everything from jackrabbits to shiras moose. I burned up the first barrel in a few years and recently put a 1:7 twist on it... and it's even more awesome now. 128gr Hammer Hunters and 131 Blackjack Aces will have all of your bases covered.

Please don't tell me RL26 can't actually safely achieve claimed velocities. 😢😭

    2021

I think it's widely agreed that the BC on the blackjack ace is higher than advertised (I'm getting .342 with my rifle). Looks like the bearing surface of the Berger is also longer. I'm guessing the blackjack is still the better bullet. But Berger obviously has the marketing power and brand...

I really hope the 1:7 twist .257 absolute hunters are going to be ready by the time this coupon expires 🤞😂

Yep, but there was no question they were dead. Lol

    Custom or off the Shelf

This is not entirely correct. Those restrictions are only for the "restrictioned muzzleloader deer" seasons which are a tiny minority of the NM muzzleloader hunts. http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/hunting/general-rules/big-game-rules/

    Custom or off the Shelf

Adding to the pile on this one... Had my first season with a smokeless muzzleloader this year. My rifle is a savage action with a Hankins Custom conversion barrel. Built it myself for less than $2k all in. It's a great shooting rifle! I had to use BH 209 since I'm in New Mexico, but I was still...
