    Light weight Stock Options?

Homer, High Tech Specialties is on the list. I have one on a 375 Ruger and really like it. It was one of the best factory inlets and had a really nice exterior. Very easy to get bedded and finished. I wish they made a lighter version though! The brake on the gun I posted is a Vais. I prefer...

Suggestions? - Pack that Carries Rifle for Barbary Hunt

I wonder about the weight carrying capabilities of that pack. Carrying 80+ pounds of meat and gear a few miles really tests a pack.

    6.5 ss final design

Ahh, So shortened a bit but shoulder pushed back also. I avoided pushing the shoulder back to make sizing easier. The boat tail on the 140 berger hangs just below the neck when seated to fit a Wyatt's box, but the 130 fits quite well. The design also allows the use of a 130 accubond in a Model 7...

    6.5 ss final design

Whats the OAL of the case? Did you shorten the SAUM brass a bit to get the neck back behind the ogive of a 140 Berger at 2.95" or so? This sounds like a neat project and I bet it works well. It is a lot similar to My .264 Raptor Which sends 130 bergers or Accubonds over 3200 with a 24" Barrel...

    Pack Llama

Can a Llama keep up with a horse? The reason i ask is because we hunt several different ways, but mostly on foot or horse. I'd love to have a pack animal that can follow me on foot in the rugged stuff, but it would be a real bonus if it could follow when horseback and not get left in the dust...

    Light weight Stock Options?

I forgot about Brown! They are now on the list. Called pendleton stocks just now. They offer a stock that finishes right at a pound so there's another for the ultralight list. Do you have any experience with their blanks? Quality?

    Light weight Stock Options?

I am looking to compile a list of Light/Ultralight stock options and would like all the suggestions and input I can get. There has to be a few more companies that offer ultralight stocks as there seems to be quite a demand for sub 6lb rifles lately. These are the few builders i know of...

Suggestions? - Pack that Carries Rifle for Barbary Hunt

The trouble with a barbary hunt is when the animal hits the ground it always seems to be at least a couple miles from the nearest road and sometimes in some really nasty stuff. Ibex are even worse! Here's my 2 cents. I agree with jmden that the eberlestock is great for carrying a rifle as...

    Ibex

+1 on it being a tough hunt I've been on the hunt a couple times with other people and can guarantee it aint easy. Steep country and a lot of loose rock. Last years draw odds for the rifle hunt were .4%. Yep point 4%. Also the mountain they call home is a long way fromTexas and i dont think any...

    Rifle Weight Vs. Distance capability...

I think it really comes down to what you want as your "effective range". If it is 600 and under a 6.5lb rig with scope will do it as long as it is a quality setup and you practice. Now, if that required range is 1000 yds a heavier rifle will be offer more stability and therefore more accurate...

    Pack Goats

Good luck Sawyer! Roy, The mini Decker looks like it should work. Did you sew the webbing with a regular sewing machine? I figured it would take an upholstery machine for that!

    New Mexico Barbary

I've hunted them a few times in that area and others. I'm not very good at it by any means, but I have learned a few things over the last few years. +1 on the water. I carry about 4 liters and usually come home mostly empty. The terrain is rocky and steep so good boots with ankle support...
