    7mm STW vs 7mm WBY

Thank you for looking at my older posts. I have been away for a while and am sort of coming back to get started again. Life has been slightly complicated, so right now I am just going to look at adding a simple scope to my .270 win. - hopefully this fall sometime. For now I am just going to...

20 G Shrifle round for hogs?

Hi, we have some various hunting law challenges to overcome for hunting hogs in this area: - Some locations require slug use only - Nearly everything is or is headed for no lead rounds - Cannot carry a side arm when hog hunting (complete safety risk IMHO) so need to be able to reload quickly...

    Nosler Model 48 NCH

Nice offering. If it had a few rounds of a magazine and a bolt that could be run with the left hand, that would be even better.

Help 270 win load for deer

Since I am in CA, I have been studying the copper bullets for the 270 win. OK, so far, this is all from ballistic studying, charts, and published data, not my own data yet. I have narrowed it down to either the GS custom 110 or 117 with Norma 203B as the place I will be starting from. Leaning...

SxS or triple rifled slug gun? Searching

Do you think we could get any of those Hubel rounds like the 24 G / 585 to pass as a shotgun slug shooter in CA?

SxS or triple rifled slug gun? Searching

Thanks, I looked at the bolt and auto shotguns - nothing wrong with them at all, it is more about me I am afraid. I have personally messed up actuating perfectly good bolt rifles before when in a hurry and have had semi autos not load quite right at a range. If I could carry a backup side...

SxS or triple rifled slug gun? Searching

Hi, I am looking for either a double or triple barrel rifled slug gun. - 20 or 12 gauge - Not really that interested in a rifled choke approach, really want rifled barrels The reason for this strange request is that boar hunting in some areas of CA can only be done with slugs, lead free, and...

Needing to build an xp for off hand shooting.

375 ruger - yes, should be "adequate". In case you would like to shoot it without developing a flinch, this outfit sells 2 levels of reduced recoil ammo for that round. https://nyatiinc.com/?route=product%2Fcategory&path=35

Needing to build an xp for off hand shooting.

I don't claim any great expertise, but since: - You already have a .308 bolt face - The 35 Whelan was working for you Perhaps a .358 win might work? Obviously hand loading would be a must since factory loads are marginally available. (Edit- midway has a few versions in stock- reasonable...

    PA. Bear

Part of the challenge to the rule change might be that the effort to care for and train dogs is out of reach for many people. I can understand the logic of bait, as it makes the odds of success sufficient to make it worthwhile, and it is something the average hunter can do at reasonable costs.

    Those thermals are impressive.

    Wolves Doing what they DO!!!

Is that something that could be privately funded? Approximately what is the cost of a private individual purchasing a couple head of cattle for such a purpose?

    .416 ruger - practice load

Hi, thanks for the feedback. You asked about my goals, I am hoping that someone can run some quickload simulations and see if it kicks out any suggestions using relatively easy to obtain powder with reasonable powder fill and burn %. Obviously, that is a starting point for further research and...

    .416 ruger - practice load

Its probably completely wrong, but 50BMG powder is also very easy to obtain locally.

    .416 ruger - practice load

Hi, I am thinking about buying a rifle in .416 Ruger, mostly for fun / paper, but some hunting in the 50 - 150 yard range. In order to make it a little more fun on paper, I would like a load that is a bit easier on the shoulder, but still uses the same bullet I plan to use in general, which are...
