    Hit the brakes!

I built one similar to a Vias for a Rem. 700. Use used 6al-4v titanium. Works fine but LOUD!

More like a parasite. Similar to the toilet paper hoarders. Lol

    What press are you using?

I built my own about 40 years ago from 4340 heat treated steel. Also have a Dillon 550

Alabama huh. That's a lot of piney woods down there isn't it? Missouri isn't very wide open either till you get up north. When I think LRH I picture someone out west bustin' a big bull elk at some extreme range. Its fun wherever you are. I have been blanketing for over 40 years now. Which...

I typo the 100 yard wrong. That was inches instead of moa as well. Has strelok been pretty close to reality for you? It's always been a little off for my 22-250. It always shoots a little flatter. But I don't have a chrony so I'm not sure what my velocity is. Which strelok do you have? Just...

I just ran you load through strelok. 1.85 high @ 100. 3.94 low at 300. & 2700 ftlbs of energy. Does that sound close. I could see why you wouldn't change. Pretty flat for a 168.

Sounds like a potent load. Where is 7828 is burn rate? Slower than 4831? I have a 4 lb keg of the old H870 & wonder how it would be in the 7mm? I will be buying some 7828 sec. I have seen it around here. A lot of the faster powders are hard to find.

Mudrunner, My blank is 27" + right now. I will lose some of that in the process. It's stamped 9 on the end. I didn't check the twist to be sure. I don't know a lot about X-caliber, but the bore looks beautiful on this barrel. To tell you the truth I never really thought about using the...

    Remington 700 or Sako l61r

Mudrunner, I think that's the way to go too. I'm definitely not building a BR or competition gun. Strictly fun & hunting. ( a little redundant there, hunting is fun) . like i said I will shoot normal hunting weight bullets. I have experimented with turning the necks on some 25-06 brass...

    Remington 700 or Sako l61r

Mudrunner, thanks for the advise. That's what I'm hearing around here as well. They say if your going to shoot those high bc bullets you need a little more room for jump & I didn't understand that. Im thinking about making a short video of the whole process. Just highlighting each step. Just a...

    Remington 700 or Sako l61r

I'm anxious to get started. Trying to get all my ducks in a row before I start. I wait till late November. My grandson wants to hunt with the Sako. I inherited it from my father in law. So I think I will leave it as is & pass it on to him. I've watched all the videos on YouTube about...

    Remington 700 or Sako l61r

Thanks for the replys gentlemen. Jboscobuys it is a beautiful rifle. Probably 90% or better finish so I would hate to dismantle it.it just doesn't shoot as well as I think it should. Dkhunt14, I suspected that but I may go ahead and flute it for the weight reduction. I will probably turn a...

    Remington 700 or Sako l61r

Muddrunner, thanks for the reply. I'm in northern Missouri right now & a limited internet connection in this area. Sorry it took me so long to get back to it. I was hoping one of you guy's with lots of experience with the 7mm mag would be listening. Which one of the two is harder on the barrel...

    Remington 700 or Sako l61r

I starting a new 7mm build ( my 1st one). I have 2 40 year old rifles that need work. The 700 is a 25-06 with the throat wore out. The Sako is a 30-06 and it never did shoot as good as the 700. Which would make the best long range setup? Haven't decided what caliber either. Either 7mm rem. Or...

    Hello from Wentzville mo.

I have been reading post & articles on LRH for a while now more as a listener than anything else. I enjoy the reading & information here. I am an avid hunter & shooter.(especially bow hunting). I hunt northern Mo. most of the time but have out west a few times (bow & gun) . I could get used to...
