    which annealer?

No, I just adjust my pace to control the timing. Put one in, take one out, drop it in the water bucket....repeat. I think that it also helps that I anneal after every firing. I may not be getting a full anneal, but I'm at least getting enough softening to make sizing easy and protect the...

Which long action savage is a large shank

Time to find a couple more smith's. They are being overly cautious with no need.

    which annealer?

Yes, I saw the concept several years ago and decided to give it a try. I found a cheap pot and thermometer on ebay. Stump remover (potasium nitrate) on Amazon. Some scap sheet metal and screws in my workshop. The first time I melted the salt it kind of made a mess. It didn't want to melt...

    which annealer?

I use a molten salt setup for my annealing. Rigged up my own plate setup for my Lee lead melter. Got the Potassium Nitrate from Amazon. Have less than $65 in my whole setup.

Burris 34mm Signature Rings Fiasco- BEWARE

What about the possibility of Burris using a weak scope tube. Perhaps if the tube was stronger the 20# ring tighness wouldn't have been an issue.

Some new brass on the market

I never said you were not entitled to an opinion. I was stating that you never substantiated or qualified it. You simply made several posts saying it was bad and that we should all believe you. Thank you for finally saying why you think it is bad. That's all I was hoping to get out of this...

Some new brass on the market

Again, you've thumped your chest and restated your opinion. However, you have yet to say exactly what the problems were that you encountered except to say that they are expensive. If you don't state some objective facts you simply sound like a desgruntled customer with an unsubstantiated axe...

    Mattresses, prices in the stratosphere!

I got my NeoAir Xlite on Massdrop for $90. R=3.2 It's supposedly made of a softer/quieter material than the Xtherm. They also sell a pumpsack that doubles as a pack liner.

    Shilen drop in from midway

He does stock some of the most common calibers, chambers, and contours. He'll also order in anything you want if you'd wait for the machining.

Get your prefits from Northland. He sells the Shilen Select Match for $10 cheaper that the regular Shilen Match barrels from Midway.

New Barrel Won't Fit into Savage Action

I just edited my post to make it a little more clear. The barrel threads have the peaks that need to be knocked down. It's the difference between how internal threads and external threads are created. The valley of internal threads are cut with a tool that had a slight radius. That rounded...

New Barrel Won't Fit into Savage Action

Actually it is a very common issue that you can fix yourself. The barrel threads are cut correctly, they just have sharp peaks that need to be knocked down. It's very easy to do with a light touch with a flat file or a piece of emery cloth. It happens because the action and nut are cut with a...

    Bore scope pics...is this normal?

You never know. That's my whole point. I've had barrels that are beautiful on the inside that hate certain bullets or powders and fight every attempt at a good load. I've also had factory barrels that had so much button chatter that it looked like railroad tracks ran through it. It would...

    Bore scope pics...is this normal?

Because you'd be wasting time and effort fixing a problem you don't have. If the accuracy is there, shoot it and forget about what it looks like on the inside.
