The most stupid thing I could do

Not stupid at all, just luck. Here's another for you, where I hunt the moose archery season goes to Sept 23, but the elk rifle season opens Sept. 17th hmmmmm what to do. Well I have all season to elk hunt, and in this particular area there are tons of moose but haven't seen an elk yet. So even...

Wyoming Draw Changed up for Buffalo

They talked about doing the same thing years ago in BC with the grizzly tags because Fish and Wildlife couldn't manage the harvest they never knew how many tree huggers applied for the tag and ripped it up. At least this way only serious hunters need apply, might increase your chances in the future.

    Alberta Elk

Shorty, I'm southwest of red deer. Fantastic elk habitat but like I said way too over pressured. If I was an outsider looking to come in to hunt Alberta, id be leaning toward mulies in the south as you mentioned or moose up north as they have been strictly lottery for rifle hunting (or outfitter...

    Alberta Elk

Hey guys, I've seen some great stories and picks in here lately and just thought I'd add mine to the pile. Living in an area with lots of farm and ranch land we have very liberal seasons in order to keep elk numbers down (good for farmers bad for hunters) and the rule here is 3 point or better...

    Nightforce Scopes Made in.....

Part of making an exeptional product is knowing who is the best to outsource your parts to. The japanese are very good at making lenses as they have been doing for years in camera lenses. It just makes sense, use whoever is the best at all the little parts, put them together and you have not...

    "propreitary" powders... :o

There's an extremely simple answer to this. A person who developes loads with powders that are listed in published reloading manuals is not putting himself or anyone else at undue risk, no matter what the motivation for choosing that particular component.

Alberta may kill thousands of wolves

Being from Alberta I'll put in my two bits. There are are now an estimated 5000 wolves in the province and it doesn't take a genius to do the math on the impact this has on ungulate populations. As to the 4 caribou killed per 100 wolves the only reason for this is that the caribou population is...

    Amax verses Berger

Just have to weigh in on this one as I finally had the chance to try the bergers in the field. Black bear aprox 200 yards(point blank for this site haha) 7mm mag. 168gr. First shot behind the shoulder bear went 50 yards and stopped, next shot high shoulder and done. After skinning and some...

Killin' Science And Bullet Selection For The Layman

Only elk I ever could not recover was shot at relatively close range (250yds) with a light, fast bullet that penetrated both shoulders and exited. Found him 12hrs later and he bolted like nothing had happened. This particular bullet held together so well that it managed to miss major arteries...

need insight on long range scope please

Re: scope suggestions???????? Just signed up to the forum and came across your thread I just bought a Leopold vx3 4.5-14x40 to mount on my 7mm Rem mag and I love it. Wish I could have all the cash back that I wasted on Burris, B+L and tasco. Very nice eye relief and super clear, and even...
