    Is my barrel worn out?

Try seating the bullets a liitle deeper, this helped me when I was in a very similar situation with my 7mmRM

This month was my first time ever hunting... Ever.

I'm from New Zealand, I hunt as much as I can and I enjoyed reading your story, cheers.

600yrd shot in sub-zero temperature, with my 28 Nosler

I think your anomaly lies in the sound you noticed. As above maybe it was the load/brass/projectile and not the temperature that caused the deviation from standard.

    243 shot placement question

Your combination is fine IMO your shot was just a little low, where the heart intersects the lungs or the entry point of the lungs will either drop them or they won’t go far. For me a heart shot is off target although it will kill the animal it won’t do it as fast as a ‘hilar lung’ shot, look it...

    June 2017 New Zealand Hunt

As stated above , I'm a Kiwi hunter and Dr Bobs experience is not free range. I'm glad he had a good time and took some nice animals but they are on private land and hunted by helicopter. Real free range NZ hunting requires leg work and a lot of fitness not to mention coming home empty handed...

    Rifles in the rain *important*

I used to use electrical tape but now have a suppressor fitted so don't bother, yeah our hills are pretty big but we don't have seasons and can hunt year round for any animal so I think we're pretty lucky really.

    Rifles in the rain *important*

Hi, In New Zealand we often hunt in wet weather along with snow in our South Island. I have taped my barrel for years but now also leave an empty fired case in the chamber to stop moisture entering through the action. When camping pulling a dry patch through the barrel before heading off in the...

Post Your 2016 Deer Season Success Here

Great shot, Listening to your calls on windage and elevation you would have to upgrade your effort rating, your gear and shooting were 'bang on'

    Opinions on NF SHV 5-20x56

Been out on 2 hunts now, shot one deer at 180yds, seemed heavy on 1st hunt but used to it on 2nd . Good scope.

    Opinions on NF SHV 5-20x56

I just bought one for my 6.5 deer rifle here in NZ as I need the dialing option to shoot out to 800. Havnt been out hunting yet but put 2 shots in same hole sighting in then shot 3 birds between 100-180yards so very happy with scope. Its heavier than my old Burris but the weights worth it IMO

Shot my 1st deer with a suppressor this season

good effort there. I hunt in New Zealand and have suppressors on all my rifles . Helps with the animals and saves what's left of my hearing. Nice animal and good size. Know what you mean about getting away without waking the kids haha

6.5 Swede for long range shooting?

How are you getting on with the long range work, I've used mine out to 520yds easily and am trying to find info about further. Using the 140amax @ 2850fps in a suppressed Tikka T3. Just looking at upgrading scope to dial up model so I can push it to 700 yds. I'm shooting red deer over here all...
