I have the Rem SPS tactical and like. I have a Manners T5 stock coming.

7-08 with 140gn bullets same as 260 with 140gn bullet 25-06 with 130gn bullets same as 6.5-284 with 140gn bullets

I have a fixture I use to turn down the factory bolt nob and single point thread for the replacement nobs.

Long actions work better for a 6.5/284 you can seat the 140gn bullets with longer OAL my 6.5/284 OAL is 3.170" with a 140 Amax

The 284 Win is a good one I like H 4831, H4350 or Hybrid 100 with the 168s you should be around 2750 fps

I would do an Edge Broughton Brux Krieger come to mind for barrels I would do a 9.3 Twist to a 10 Twist I would also look into a Wyott extended box.

Get some of the 308 lapua brass and neck it down.

Surgeon 591/WSM, Bat actions, Stiller's Predator come to mind

25-300 WSM or 6.5-300 WSM would be good also

The 300 WSM is a good cartridge a step up would be a Dakota in 7mm or 30 any of these will work for what you are looking for.

the 260 or 7-08 are better for deer the 338 fed would be more of a elk hunting rifle for under 500 yards
