Whats the likely range for you to hit a target about 2-3 inches in one shot?

Lee, he ruined me for life waaaaaay back in the summer of 2002. I tagged a p-dog off a pair of shooting sticks at just over 250 yards when my family stopped by over vacation, and I knew the hook was set. Giving crows a dirt shower this past summer just pushed it in deeper! And now that I...

Whats the likely range for you to hit a target about 2-3 inches in one shot?

This is a tough one. Since I've operated without a rangefinder for my entire distance shooting career, I tend to associate ranges directly with hold-over or number of clicks. As in: Well, that chuck looks like about a two-inch holdover...However after pacing off my kills and converting the...

    30-30 lever gun shooting 1/2"????

I'm gonna call BS, too. I really do not see a lever-action firearm producing that kind of a group at 100 with any kind of relaibility... I highly doubt he has anything better to do then get on the internet and make up BS stories to tell. You may have led a bit of a sheltered internet life...

First real long range hunt...Gave it a shot...

...Pun intended, of course. Today at about 8:30 I met up with Lee in OH to try for some serious long-range g-hog action. To make a long story short, we only saw one hog, and we didn't quite guess the elevation right (We're pseudo-newbies) so no 500 yard club today. Only missed the little bugger...

A bit of an odd request...

Well, here's my problem. Pretty soon, I'm going to be making a try for the 500 yard club with Lee in Ohio. We have the guns ready, a spot picked out, and a time frame set...Only problem is that his laser rangefinder crapped out on him. And I'm too poor to buy one. So, here goes. Does anyone...

.22/And now for something completely different

Sounds good to me...I've heard that a lot of match/tac-style shooters shoot the .22RF a lot, because the ballistics of the .22RF at 200 yards are about equal to those of the .308 at 1000...Neat concept... Quinn.

    Ya know whats kinda cool...

That is most certainly true...I've never asked a question here that has not been answered to my complete satisfaction... The internet is an absolutely wonderful tool. For example, it turns out that there is some SERIOUS long range action going on within a 20 mile radius of my home, but had it...

    Movin' on out there...

Movin\' on out there... Finally got the chance to do some seroius chuck hunting today! I killed five chucks, at the following ranges: #1, 70 yards, .22 mag, Center mass. #2 203 yards, .223 Rem., Center mass first hit, head second hit. (He was twitching a bit, and I wanted to see if I could...

    Semi-newb ballistics question?

Real simple, I just want to know if it would be possible to stabilize a 60 grain bullet coming from a 12-twist .223 Remington. It sems BL-C(2) might be suited well for this purpose, but I'm not sure it is even possible in the first place...I'm looking for something with a little better BC than...

    Pics. of my new gun......

Looks like a very sweet rig! You should be able to reach out and touch some stuff with that...This is what I currently hunt with, it is a CZ 527 "varmint", comes with a medium heavy bbl, H-S stock, single set trigger, and a few other little goodies, chambered in .223 Rem. I'm in the process of...
