I had Kirby build me one a couple years ago. Phenomenal performance. It’s shooting the Berger 195’s at 3350fps. It’s really nice to shoot, his break does a great job minimizing recoil.
I’m loading 101gr of RL33. I have tested it out to 1700 yards. I’ve taken 1 moose up here in Canada, although...
Reminiscing about my dall sheep/caribou hunt up at Bonnet Plume in the Yukon.
Was an amazing experience. Just thought I’d share the link to the video. Had a friend compile my pictures and videos and make it into a short clip for a memory keepsake.
@Mike D Texas Bat Vesper action.
I mean I could recalibrate my scale and weight it again and get back to you?
I didn’t intend it to be a certain weight, a bit heavier would have likely been better as far as recoil goes, but I’ll see when I get out and send some down range.
Yes, essentially a terminator but I do believe the shoulder angle is slightly different.
It has the manners LRH stock, UM’s long dbm and mag, UM’s hunter rail and a 24” benchmark 8T barrel.
With the scope, it is 9.9lbs. I haven’t got a chance to shoot it yet! Just got it in a couple days ago...
I’m using Kirby’s load, have found no need to veer away from it.

Very nice to shoot and great terminal ballistics as well. Have taken a few deer and a bull moose so far up here in Canada.

I haven’t tried the heavies yet. Shooting the 168gr VLDH out of a 20” proof at 2911fps with 65.5gr of H1000. Would like to see what the 180’s will do but having trouble finding them.....
All,
I have been doing some research recently as to what bullet to go with in a 7SAUM.
This is a factory build so no extended box, is a short action, etc so I wouldn’t have the luxury of seating the heavies out far. Have a 20” proof barrel.
Will be predominantly used for a mountain rifle...
Exactly what Iceking said. Depends on your hunt duration. I am also running a Barney’s pack for my longer hunts. Very comfortable and can help distribute weight for long duration trips.

Lots of great suggestions. Can’t go wrong with a bunch of them! I just received my package. I hunt mainly in the mountains, therefore wanted a lighter, compact setup. I have a gunwerks ClymR in a 30 nosler. Loaded with 215gr Berger’s in a 22” proof. Shooting 2813fps in 1/4” @ 100yards. The stock...
