I have have had some great results with 150gn. Nosler Balistic Tips and 150gn. Fail safes in my 300WSM. I am NOT shooting LONG RANGE!! Like some of the folks here. Farthest Kill so far 627yards with a Balistic tip. Clean kill with exit hole.
Using IMR 4831, W760, and IMR 4350 all with...
Try deeper bullet seating...according to some relaoding data, having bullets seated into the lands will increase pressure. Weatherby's theory of some "free bore" to reduce pressure.
Anyone have any experiance with these new bullets?? Looks to be a Balistic tip that has gone through a bonding process. Only available in a few calibers and weights...30cal 200gn with a .588 b.c.
How far ? It seems that bullet flight TOF that it was less than indicated yardage. What kind of lens is on the camera? Looks like it got gut shot ??? **** nice buck !! Thanks for sharing. Also what was said besides the "Did I hit him" part?

As others have stated, look into a 300 WSM. I got a A-bolt and for a stock rifle and some handloads this combo has become a deadly lighweight compact killer out to 550yards so far for me. As far as bullet preformance at that range, plenty of energy to provide a exit hole with a Balistic tip. I...
Ian,
like Chris M said Try some W748. I use it in lighter bullets for the 308 win works well. faster the better out of my gun. little bullets can be pretty accurate at normal ranges under 300yds.
TX,
For under 200 yards you cannot go wrong with a nosler partition for quality consistant bullet performance. Hogs are tough. Inconsistant bullet expansion will increase the odds for lost game. Sierra notes in all of its reloading manuals that the MK is not intended for a hunting bullet...
Big Sky,
heres my thinking, if your barrel is too hot to touch and accuracy becomes irratic whats the purpose of excessive shooting. My new rifle is designed for hunting its very lightweight and there is no need I feel to go shoot twenty rounds in a hour. I have tested a few relaoded...
Big sky,
This new rifle is not my only rifle...there is not much differance in shooting tecniques between rifles. For example there is not much diferance in shooting tecniques between shooting same hole groups at 100 yds with a 22-250 and shooting 6- 10 inch groups at 500 yards. Now...
MAB,
Since getting the new gun I have been to the range about 20 times doing load developement. I have put almost 140 rounds through it after a barrel break in of 25 rounds. I have found that the gun shoots most of everything pretty well, but it has exceptional results with failsafes...
Nice to know that the newer Barnes expand well under lower velocities. I had some X bullets that failed to expand. I would like to know the results with a Failsafe.
Anyone have any experiances with these bullets?? and If so How is the expansion with high velocities and lower velocities??
The reason I ask is that I have recently purchased a Browning A-Bolt in 300 WSM and have found that the 150 gn fail safes will shoot under a half inch at 100 yds...
