If you're a handloader, especially if you put a custom 8twist on your 7RM, I don't think there is a reason to switch. If, on the other hand, you are looking at getting your 1st 7mm, the 7PRC or 28 Nosler are the logical choices. You just have to decide if you want a barrel burner or not.

Beautiful rig. Looks like a lot of fun. No disrespect intended; why did you decide on a 9 twist in a custom 7mm that you wanted to shoot heavy for caliber pills? I thought the recommended barrel for a rig like this would be an 8 twist.

If you’re looking at getting a 300 win mag, why not consider a 300prc? It will have a faster twist barrel, and be able to shoot the new longer high BC bullets. I would go with either a seekins or fierce.

I recommend 20 MOA so that you can practice out to 1000yrds or more. If you can learn to hit at 1000, 600 is a slam-dunk. I would forget the CDS. IF you change your load, it’s useless. Learn how to use ballistic software to dial up yardage. Hear are some tools: The Sig Saur 3000 KILO...
