Recommend a FAQ page on your site dedicated solely to this new barrel material. Thanks for your innovation and work to improve what so many of us obviously enjoy. This sounds really GOOD!

    Mixing small lots of powder?

I've done this for over 40 years with all sorts of powder and have had absolutely NO negatives. Mix and shake the up to get a more homogeneous mix overall. In fact, recently I was developing a load for my 28 Nosler using Retumbo. It was scarce and found that I could only buy 1 lb here and...

    Case Head Separation

It is obvious from the soot on the shoulder that the case never sealed in the chamber. The brass split well forward from where normal case head separation occurs but others have stated pretty much the same thing. My one additional comment is make sure you check the chamber where the separation...

Thoughts on rifle weight and hunting

As a young guy in my 20s, I favored lighter guns (<8.5 with scope) so I could run up the western mountains. I found those rifles to be easy to carry but too light to swing smoothly on moving game. One day I gabbed my Sako varmiter in .243 and took it deer hunting. I killed a running buck and...

    Cleaning bolt lug recess

Try Sinclair/Brownell's. They have a tool for it that uses the firm cotton rolls that your dentist uses to hold your cheek away from your teeth. This will get most of the real grime out of the lug recesses. You can cut the length of a roll to fit the diameter of any rifle.

    Neck turning...min neck thickness

This is an interesting topic for me because I've always wondered how to determine the actual neck diameter in a rifle's chamber so that case necks can be trued without removing excess material and causing the necks to over expand upon firing. I do use bushing dies but have still experience neck...

A-Tips, terminal performance on big game

In general, Target or Match bullets usually have a heavier jacket than hunting bullets. Hunting bullets being thinner in the front end to promote expansion. Target bullets are made with heavier jackets up front so that they will not "blow up" in flight giving a competitor a miss during the...

    Scope failed tall target test....🤬

I have noticed the same problem previously and found that, in my case, it was definitely attributable to the bottom of the cheek piece riding the rear v bag. When I switched the scope to a rifle with out the cheek piece, the scope passed the TTT with flying colors. I previously used my...

Help! Why did my group explode?

One possibility that I have personally experienced is this: I some how must have accidentally bumped the crown of the muzzle on something hard and burred the crown. The rifle shot sub half minute and then, suddenly out of no where my groups would not stay on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I tried...

Explain the need for a 28 Nosler

Personally, I love the 28 Nosler. I get more velocity with less powder, more consistent velocities, less perceived recoil compared to my previous STW's, And so far, less barrel wear. (I'm at 400 rounds fired and have lost less than 0.002" from the rifling.) I also experienced velocity spikes...

Got the itch to build again.

I've built a few of these for ladies and younger shooters and most say that they find the recoil "snappier" or "sharper" than they like. Just be aware and prepare to 'brake' it during your build. While it is not in the magnum class where recoil is concerned, if you build a light rifle, it may...
