What if.... A remedy for the "cold shot".

You are welcome to split hairs if you like. Moving warmer air away IS COOLING the metal. It's the same concept.

What if.... A remedy for the "cold shot".

Well you have made it quite obvious you don't have a fundamental understanding of what fireworks is getting at and my best guess is you have failed to read this from him: The poster is talking about heating up the tube for a first shot in the field. And I said exactly what I meant so reread...

What if.... A remedy for the "cold shot".

No My point is, if an artificial source of heat is used to pre-heat a barrel and that source is able to warm the barrel to temperature X (only), in a controlled environment, it will not do the same job in an extreme temperature change due to other variables such as a very cold windy day...

What if.... A remedy for the "cold shot".

Well you ARE WRONG. WIND BLOWING ON WARM METAL COOLS IT.

What if.... A remedy for the "cold shot".

too many variables for consistent first shot accuracy in my opinion. Great concept but what happens when you travel to hunt and have a springtime bear 700 yards away and it's 80 degrees on June 1st and you use the same rifle at -10 in WY for a giant mulie at 875 yards and the wind is blowing...

    would you rather 280rem,270win,30-06spring

Re22 is also an excellent choice in .06 with 180s. I have seen many .06 shine with re19 and 22. I have loads with both

    would you rather 280rem,270win,30-06spring

I have three 270s, two 30.06s, and one 280. I would use whichever one I had with me on that hunt. They will all do the identical job once the bullet hits the vitals. If you really want me to throw in my order of preference, keep this in mind, it has nothing to do with the caliber or my...

    Utah Big Game draw results?

Hello. Anyone from Utah or hunt there frequently? I have been putting in for mulie, elk, and pronghorn for years. Limited entry elk. I received a call today from someone who says she is with Utah dept of fish and wildlife wanting to do a survey about my "upcoming hunt." Anyone get these? I...

    Powder for 280

any 4831 will work very well. but Re19 is probably what I'd try first.

    What to do

That may be true. I've never experienced shooting out a barrel I don't think and I doubt I ever will in my lifetime. I just don't have the time to shoot that much anymore. Replacing a barrel, however, is not something I consider when choosing a caliber. If I shoot one out, then I would replace...

Yep same here. That is definitely what the title infers.

    What to do

Having seen multiple videos and personal experiences and having built several rifles (by smiths, not me), I have concluded that nothing bigger than a 7mm Rem Mag is necessary for most game animals. Now that said, I have considered doing something a bit different than what I have and that is...

    .277 accubonds

Look at sinclair or midway or midsouthshootersupply.com. It's a OAL length gauge, but listen, once you set up your seater die your base to ogive length should remain consistent if the brass is prepped properly so as neck tension is near identical. COAL is important to fit loads in the mag...
