    Getting a true aol.

To make your own modified case for either the Hornady or the Stoney point O.A.L. Gauge , use a 5/16-36 tap. NOT 5/16-32.

do it all rifle/caliber combo ideas

Check out the 7mm Rouge or Rogue, not sure which spelling. I believe the parent case is the 300 win mag , with some neck & shoulder improvements . Ballistics are somewhere between the 7mm Remington magnum & the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner, closer to STW velocity with less powder, & it is...

    Best reloading book for beginner?

Some may disagree as to the value of these books where a beginner is concerned , but that aside, in my opinion the two books that did more to advance my knowledge and understanding of handloading were and are " The Precision Shooting Reloading Guide" Edited by Dave Brennan 1995 and...

New 8mm 190 gr. Swift Scirrocco .511 BC

Thanks for the reply varberger .I checked my notes and found where I tried the 220 gr Sierra , # 2420 , SBT , or Game King. I started off @ .055" off the lands, because that is where the Barnes bullets had shot so well. The Sierra's started to tighten up when I got to .002" off the lands & in...

New 8mm 190 gr. Swift Scirrocco .511 BC

Thanks for the suggestion JUD , may be able to get the 170 near 3400 Fps, but in my mind the new 190 scirrocco @ 3100 to 3200 fps may be the ideal deer & or Elk bullet in the 8mm rem mag.

New 8mm 190 gr. Swift Scirrocco .511 BC

I've had an 8mm rem mag for around 30 years, and in that time have tried many different loads. My go to load is the Barnes 180 gr. TSX , with a B.C. of .381, seated .055" off the lands, over 81.50 grains of IMR 4831 & a remington 9 1/2 M primer. Velocity is right @ 3300 fps, with an extreme...

Bruce; My favorite load in the 8mm Rem Mag with a copper bullet is the Barnes 180 grain TSX, seated .055" off the lands in a factory Remington 700 BDL. 81.50 grains IMR 4831 & a Remington magnum primer. Velocity is right @ 3300 Fps , with extreme spreads in the teens. Sub moa accuracy.

New 8mm 190 gr. Swift Scirrocco .511 BC

I don't think publishing an inflated B.C.would be very good for the reputation of any bullet maker.
