I have the new Ruger/Marlin 45-70 Trapper and have three very accurate loads.
325 grain FTX with 53 grains of H322
350 grain Round nose Hornady with 52 grains of H322
405 Grain hard cast with 30 grains of IMR 4198
Using Fed 210 primers for all. The 405 grain works in the Trapdoor also
I don’t compete with the 22.250 so I see no sense in wasting these. There are 155 pieces. I’ll ship them ups fully insured for $450.
Check or Money order only and must clear before I ship.
I have had a Leupold 6.5X20X50 LRP since it first came out. It has excellent glass, clarity and light transmission. A friend just order the 8X25X50 after shooting with mine a few times. I also like Zeiss glass but their warranty isn't as good as Leupold.
You said money isn't an issue, why not go...
I own a 4x16x44 HST. Glass is okay in bright conditions. Eye relief is awful! Could never put it on high power rifle as I had planned. Ended up putting it on a 6.5 Creedmore with muzzle brake.
As far service, don count on too much, they never even responded to my inquiry when I contacted them...
I have a 300 RUM in a Remington 700, 24" barrel. I'm using 86.5 grains of RL26 under a 212gr Hornady ELDX with fed 215 primers, (OCL 3.80), not utilizing magazine. Velocity averages 3068 and shoots under 1/2 MOA.
BTW no muzzle brake either. It took a lot of fine tuning but it's a shooter....
I've never owned a Zeiss but I have looked through them. nice glass! I have a Vortex 4-16x44 and don't like it. The eye relief is only 2.25" on 16 power. Originally meant for my 300 RUM but ended up on the 6mm. Contacted Vortex and they did not respond. They'll never see my $$ again.
I only shot 3 of RL26 to see what the velocity was but the group was barely 1 MOA at 100 Yrds.
Once I shoot a ladder and define the best group, I'll post more...
Interesting. I did shoot 3 rounds loaded with the RL26 at 86 grains, COL 3.82 single fed in my Remington factory 26" barrel and got and average of 3063.....
I've been working up a load for this bullet as well. So far 89 grains of Retumbo at and average of 2923 FPS is giving me the best groups, sub 1/2 minute at 100 yards.
Going to try some of the new RL26 as well but that first load will be hard to beat...
I'm setting up a Remington 700 .300 RUM and I'm considering the new Hornady ELD-X in 212 gr.
I have them on back order but wanted to get some input from guys using similar weight and style.
I love my 20 year old Ruger SBH bisley in .44mag. I had the trigger done by JD Jones and shoot the 300 grain XTP bullets using the extended crimp groove over 23.5 grains of H110. Hard to beat the accuracy of this gun. Best group so far off bench is 3 shots in 1 inch at 100 yards. Consistently...
