gun)Well I finally got a chance to shoot today. I didn't want to break in the barrel with my loads so I purchased some factory ammo and headed out. I wasn't expecting too much for accuracy with the factory loads but to my surprise 5 shot groups measuring .374 outside. Kevin you build one hell of...
I will let others comment on the bottom metal and the need for it. Make sure you understand that the outside demensions of the Wyatt is 3.90 not the inside. Inside measures more like 3.840 so keep that in mind when loading rounds.
I have about 30 bullets loaded up in a configuration I no longer wnat or need so I was going to pull them vs shooting them.
Question: If I pull the bullets and drain all the powder do I need to resize the brass before seating another bullet? My gut says yes but I thought I would ask.
If so...
Maybe the better question is what number is to much? If QL says 107% is that Ok (the load will not be to compressed) where 110% will always be to much. Is this just a trial and error thing or should I do my own math and stay below 100%
I understand that however max case overflow is 79.5. Volume occupied by bullet is 6.801 leaving the useable capacity of 72.699. With 72 grains of powder am I not actually using 99.73% of the usable space?
Wow, interesting debate I started. Looking at this from a physics point of view. I assume when you seat a bullet closer to the lands you have two things happening. An increase of preasure caused from a shorter jump and a decrease in preasure caused from detination in a larger area of volume...
OK, it also does it if you are only using 95-99% of case. Is that normal? I am still really confused by this. I have not found a single scenerio where seating the bullet closer to the lands will increase preasures in the QL program
Ok my quickload v3.6 just arrived and I already played with it enough to make my brain hurt. Actually the program seems simple enough however one thing has me a little confused. I have always been under the impression that seating a bullet closer to the lands or increasing the cartridge length...
Ok Magnum if I understand you correctly. You start with a COL of magazine length - .005. Retumbo seems to have the highest velocity listed with 71 grains being the max. So I would load 5 shots each of 68,69,70,71
After that is where you lost me. Assuming 69 grains is the most accurate you...
I don't have any federal brass and I really don't want to shoot Nosler partitions. If I did I would just shoot the factory loads.
I do agree with what your stating about half the work being done and I could load with a COAL to match the factory load if thats recommended but it would create...
