    243 or 6mm reminton

When I was young and into my middle years, I hunted Whitetail and Mule Deer with a 6mm Remington using 87 grain Hornady SP bullets. I harvested a lot of deer with it and all but one dropped in their tracks! However -- and it's a big however -- I 'placed' that bullet in the ribs for a lung shot...

    Vortex lht comments?

I really like the 4x16 HST I have. It dials right on but it's been back to Vortex once. The power ring was so tight I was barely able to rotate the power ring. They loosened it up a little but I still had to put a throw lever on it in order to rotate it. Other than that I like the scope although...

I paid over $800.00 for my .338 dies when I bought them new -- but it also depends on what style of bullets you want to make! Some bullet styles require more dies than other styles. If you want to make soft point boat tails, it'll take more dies than if you only make flat base hollow points! I...

I didn't realize a person could cast your cores -- but it makes sense a person could! Yes, the Corbin press is built like a tank! I'm retired and when I go to the range, I go for the whole day during the middle of the week when nobody else is there and take my Oehler Chronograph and several...

You need lead wire to form the jacket core. If you had a way to make the proper diameter lead wire from your supply of lead, it would work. I buy my lead wire directly from either Corbin or RCE. Also -- I buy my jackets.

The dies require the Corbin press for a number of reasons -- including the strength of the press. The thread pitch on the dies wont work on a RCBS press -- and the diameter of the treads are different. Also the Corbin press is very different than a normal reloading press. If you visit the Corbin...

I bought jackets from a fellow called Butch Harrell some time ago. I have 1000 that are normal jacket material with a .018 wall thickness and a second batch of pure copper jackets with .030 wall thickness. The pure copper jackets make 270 gr bullets for the 338! Not sure how many of the pure...

I swage also with a Corbin CSP-1 S-press and have dies for .224, .257 and .338! When we had the primer shortage during the Clinton administration, I figured we'd have other shortages, so bit the bullet and bought the Corbin press & dies for .224 and .257 -- somewhat later for the .338! Since...

Tough way to go out. Mountain lion attack

The only way to solve it is to vote those politicians out of office who support animal rights causes. That won't happen because Washington, Oregon & California are ruled by their urban populations and those population centers always vote Democrat. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS)...

Tough way to go out. Mountain lion attack

We've now got an overpopulation of cougar in Washington, Oregon and California because we're no longer allowed to hunt them the only effective way -- with dogs! Blame goes to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) which poured millions of dollars into deceptive advertising to get a...

favorite powder for 45-70 modern loads?

Years ago I worked up a load for 350 gr Hornady RN bullets using H322 and have never tried any other powder. I was getting around 1850 fps and 1 inch groups with open sights at 50 yards out of my early model Marlin 1895! It was a great load back then and would use the same powder now!
