    Scope Mount Setup/Critique

this is 100% wonky. I sure as hell wouldn't trust a Larue with a big heavy optic like that. well.... I actually wouldn't trust a Larue mount with anything truth be told.

Best long range hunting scope max budget $3K

ATACR is an amazing optic, and won't leave you wishing you had anything else. PMII is also a gold standard. However, I think the outdated reticle designs are a really limiting factor. Plus, the illumination tumor in the back would bother me some. These are both personal/subjective...

    Rangefinder Binocular

There are some newer options that have better ballistic programs and better interface with other supporting devices, but they don't have Leica glass yet. I have some HD-B's and wouldn't trade them for anything else.

    Long Range Hunting Optic opinions

I don't know what kind of bullet you're shooting, but I can reference something from my world: with a 6.5mm bullet, anything between a 120 going ~2700fps and a 140 going ~2500.... as low as a 6mph full value wind will move the POI an entire foot at 600 yards. A 10mph wind and you can double...

    Vortex Razor HD LH

I am trying to set my boss up with his first hunting rifle on a limited budget. Interested in finding a good used Vortex Razor HD LH 2-10 model. Bonus points if it comes with a nice set of rings. If you've got one that needs a new home, please let me know. Thanks!

    Nightforce Mil-C FFP for hunting

I've got an ATACR with a Mil-R, works just peachy for low light hunting. About 99% of it is because I'm looking at that reticle through NF quality glass. If the reticle ends up being too fine to see in low light...... well that's what the illumination is for. My only complaint about the...

    Why suppressors?

If you have to ask, you must not have spent any time with one. I won't shoot a rifle without a suppressor any more. And yes, that means I chose to shoot rifles chambered in rounds that do better out of shorter barrels. I never have to worry about doing more significant damage to my hearing...

Shooting heavy recoiling rifle from bench-beginner here

If you're wanting to train to shoot targets at longer distances, you picked the wrong rifle. You'd be better off focusing on learning the fundamentals with the 308, then pull out the cannon when you've got a yeti or mastadon that needs to be shot.

Anyone with Mark5HD feedback? ATACR F1 instead?

agreed on all points about consistency across all platforms, and it really doesn't matter which you pick as long as you know how to use them. IF the perfect scope for you is only offered in MILS, I don't see it as a deal breaker. Just for the sake of good educated conversation, not thinking...

Anyone with Mark5HD feedback? ATACR F1 instead?

I have no idea why it is so hard for folks to switch over to mils, I did it and there was ZERO issues. the math is way easier, and you have a ruler in your scope.

    Who makes the best action?

Yeah, but is the POI shift as repeatable as a normal shouldered barrel that's torqued the same every time it's installed? No experience, just curious?

    Resurrecting Grandfather's Gun

Man, If I was passed down an heirloom rifle like that the last thing I'd want to do is scalp that original wood stock. To each his own, but you already robbed a lot of the soul and erased some of the stories by refinishing the metal, don't do it to the wood too. If you're dead set on spending...

    Who makes the best action?

For real world practicality, I think it's REALLY hard to beat a $500 Tikka action. I don't think much else is really needed. However, if I ever get anything different it'll be a Bighorn. Versatility out of a single action is the key... you can invest in a single action and have several...

Anyone with Mark5HD feedback? ATACR F1 instead?

I hear the new Mk5 is a pretty legit scope, I hope it's true. If it is it'll damned sure be the first time Leupold comes out with something competitive against other options at the same price point. If it were me, I'd invest in something that already has the track record. I work too hard...
