    Seating depth limitations

Thank you. I’m new to this so I’m still learning. There’s so much information to absorb. Where do I find that info about my chamber dimensions? Is it in the link you posted? All I see are case dimensions.

10-4. I’ve taken the brake off for now. If I decide to put it back on later I’ll take it to a gunsmith and have them make sure everything lines up correctly.

I don’t think it was an error in parallax adjustment...I had the dial set at 100 yards. Wasn’t loose optics, I triple checked all mounts. I don’t know enough about brakes to know how it could be installed incorrectly. The bullet was not contacting the brake because there are no marks on the...

Barrel was pre-threaded from the factory, I marked the thread protector at TDC and sent it to Ross Schuler. The brake was slightly off center when I received it so I ordered some shims and got it clocked correctly. I did a little research before ordering the brake and most said that they can...

I'm definitely going to do that. I already paid for them, so I might as well keep trying to make them work.

I am not at all dead set on them. I just figured I’d try to make them work. I’m open to trying other bullets.

    Well, bad news from my range trip today. Here's what I shot and what they grouped: 73.3gr H1000 (4 shots) 3.893" 73.5gr H1000 (4 shots) 2.050" 73.7gr H1000 (4 shots) 1.920" 74.3gr H1000 (4 shots) 1.802" 74.5gr H1000 (4 shots) 2.848" 74.7gr H1000 (4 shots) 2.932" I chose...

So you're saying to treat max length that will fit into the magazine as basically "the lands"? So start there and seat the bullet further in all the way up to .130" off the maximum mag length? With the bullets I loaded last, the jump is .210" from the ogive to the rifling. I could probably load...

You would be very correct about that. I sighted it in with a box of factory Hornady 178gr and it wasn’t terrible. Shooting the 210s is a whole different animal. I bought a brake for it...

I read that whole thread during my initial research. I think I ended up going with the 210s because those were the only bullets I could find on the shelf. I know, I know...I could have ordered them online.

Hunting: no further than probably 300 yards Target: 5-600 yards, maybe further if I can find the space

I would call it a semi-success. I agree that a hunting rifle doesn't need to shoot 1/2 MOA. I'm not trying to shoot small animals at long distances, but I just want it to be as accurate as possible...it's fun trying different loads and trying to tune it as best I can.

Right now they're jumping about .210" I may be able to seat them another couple thousandths out and still fit them in the magazine. The Berger article I read said most guns have a sweet spot about .030-.040" wide anywhere from touching the rifling to a .150" jump so I'm a little past the...

    Seating depth limitations

The Berger VLD bullets are more sensitive to seating depth than other bullets because of their secant ogive shape. Berger has published several articles talking about this. That's why I'm asking if anyone else has gotten the VLD bullets to group really tight in their magazine fed gun or if I...

Thanks, Dosh. It’s not a high end rifle, but it’s what I could afford and I’m happy with it. I’ve read a bunch of the threads on the 210s but so far haven’t seen any input from guys with the same gun as me.
